Uniqlo Sanrio UT Collection

News of Teo Heng KTV closing down several of its branches hit Singaporeans hard. Singing karaoke and performing mini concerts in front of our friends and colleagues is one of our favourite national pastimes, after all. And while karaoke outlets might still be closed for now, from 3 August 2020, music lovers can seek solace in the Uniqlo x Sanrio UT collection.

Hello Kitty and Aggretsuko take centre stage in the Uniqlo x Sanrio UT womens’ collection. But no concert is complete without guest stars, so My Melody, Pompompurin and Pochacco also make an appearance on one design. The t-shirts cost $14.90 each. Scroll to the end to find out how to score exclusive Sanrio x Pew Pew Patches iron-on patches too!

Hello Kitty designs

Hello Kitty goes grunge on this plain white tee, with a subversive twist on her signature style.

You hardly ever see Hello Kitty out of her blue pinafore. This time around, however, it’s in black. Plaid accessories complete her grunge transformation, including her iconic bow and combat boots. We always knew Hello Kitty was a rock star, but this is the first time she actually looks like one.

Like a true rock star, just an outline of her eyes, nose, whiskers and bow is enough for anyone to recognise Hello Kitty. Here, she demands that passers-by “look at my ribbon!”

This pink t-shirt strikes a balance between sweet and subversive, since Hello Kitty is still decked out in black on the front.

Turn it over and you’ll find all sorts of fun facts about the cat, including her favourite food and word.

The last design sees Hello Kitty being joined by some of her fellow Sanrio characters on stage.

Aggretsuko designs

Anyone who’s ever watched an episode of Aggretsuko on Netflix will agree that the character is every working Singaporean’s spirit animal. This t-shirt further confirms it, with the red panda changing from her normal to angsty self proclaiming, “I come to karaoke all the time and bring my mic.”

The back of the next t-shirt is even more apt.

“This is all I ever sing! This is my soul!” is dedicated to all the mic hoggers out there.

Uniqlo Sanrio UT Collection Is Inspired By Music

There is also a Uniqlo x Sanrio UT collection for girls, starring Hello Kitty, My Melody, Little Twin Stars and Cinnamoroll on various sporting adventures. The shirts cost $12.90 each.

As a bonus, Uniqlo Singapore has also teamed up with local label Pew Pew Patches on an adorable giveaway. With a minimum purchase of 2 original-priced UTs from the Uniqlo Sanrio UT collections and $60 spend, you will be entitled to 1 patch. The promotion is valid from August 3 to 31 online at Uniqlo’s website and in all Uniqlo stores except Changi Airport Transit. Patch designs will be given at random, while stocks last.
