Korean boyband BTS is currently on their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour. They began performing at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles in May this year and have since travelled the world to Brazil, United Kingdom, France and Japan. They will be ending their final leg of the tour in Seoul’s Olympic Stadium later this month on 26, 27 and 29 October.
Unfortunately for Singapore’s ARMY (BTS fans), they will not be making a stop here. However, fans will be able to catch the live screening of the finale performance on Sunday, 27 October 2019 at 5.30pm in the comfort of Golden Village cinemas.
For $54, you can purchase a ticket for the live screening of BTS’ Love Yourself: Speak Yourself concert from Golden Village’s official website. Advance sales have already begun and from the looks of it, a good 50% of the seats have already been bought.
The live screenings will happen at GV Grand (Great World City), GV Vivocity and the spanking new GV Funan. The screening begins from 5.30pm to 9pm, but doors open at 5pm so you can settle in earlier. After all, you don’t want to miss the moment when BTS takes the stage!
A recent leg of their tour included a show at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. BTS became the first non-Arab artists to perform at a stadium in Saudi Arabia, upon the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
Human rights activists criticised their performance as an endorsement of his regime. While some fans supported the decision, the hashtag #BTSDontGo was also used to boycott the band for performing in Saudi Arabia.
“Rather than using their platform to denounce the Saudi regime’s abuses, BTS chose to whitewash the regime’s human rights violations by performing in Riyadh today. HRF calls on celebrities to think twice before endorsing authoritarian regimes,” tweeted the Human Rights Foundation.
BTS leader RM expressed their thought process in playing there in a recent interview that you can read in full here.
The message of their concert, ‘Love yourself’, is consistent with their speech at the United Nations in 2018, about loving oneself.
While watching a live screening is not the same as attending a live concert, it is the next best alternative. You might even enjoy the multi-angle camera shots, the comfort of the seats and not having to squeeze on packed public transport after the concert.
If you are a hardcore BTS fan, you might want to get your tickets quickly before they are all sold out.
