DIY Wedding Rings With Your Partner From Just $180 At This JB Craft Studio

ZOCRAFT organises DIY couple ring workshops in JB

If it seems like you and your partner have exhausted all the couple activities Singapore has to offer, consider taking a trip across the causeway to explore more affordable and unique date ideas. Our recommendation? The Couple Ring Workshop organised by ZOCRAFT, a creative studio in JB located just 10 minutes from the checkpoint. This workshop offers the perfect opportunity to bond while crafting something special together.

What to expect at this couple ring-making workshop

ZOCRAFT is a creative studio that specialises in custom jewellery making. Their ring-making workshop is a step-by-step course led by an instructor who will guide you through the entire process.

Firstly, you’ll need to select the material that you want to use for your ring. The standard course, priced at RM580 (~S$180), allows you to make a pair of 925 sterling silver rings.

However, if you and your partner prefer rings that are white gold or rose gold, ZOCRAFT can replicate your crafted silver rings in your desired material. This will require an additional cost of RM3,800 to RM6,400 (~S$1,180 to S$1,987) for another pair, depending on the gold composition: 9K, 14K, or 18K. Essentially, you’ll receive 2 pairs of rings with this option.

The ring-making process

During this 2 to 3-hour session, you’ll be able to create one of 6 ring designs, each with a meaningful story. Choose the design that resonates best with your relationship and get ready to craft a special ring that reflects your unique bond.

The whole process is fairly straightforward. You’ll start by heating up the pieces of silver to make them more malleable for crafting. You can also engrave something symbolic of your relationship at this stage. Be careful not to mess up—there are no do-overs, so make sure to take your time!

The next step is to measure your ring size and shape the piece of silver into a circle that fits perfectly. Be sure to try it on to ensure it fits to a T. You’ll also shape the piece of silver into the design of your choice at this stage. Once you’re satisfied with the look of it, trim off the excess material.

Now, it’s time to weld the two ends of the silver to join the ring. After welding, take your time to refine the ring’s surface, smoothing out any bumps and making sure that the finish is to your liking.

And voilà! You’ll have crafted your very own one-of-a-kind couple ring in under three hours. You can take home your 925 sterling silver rings on the day itself. However, if you have opted for a white gold or rose gold version of your crafted ring, ZOCRAFT will need to cast your silver rings in the desired material at their factory, and that will take at least a month to be ready.

Who said ring making was only for couples? ZOCRAFT also offers friendship ring-making workshops, so grab the girlies and have a memorable besties’ date here!

You can sign up for the different ring-making workshops on their website. PS: You can also bring your rings back to them for free polishing!
