Donate Your Used Shoes Through Adidas To Help Build Jogging Tracks & Playgrounds From 17 Oct To 30 Nov 2020

Donate Your Used Shoes To Adidas

If you went into decluttering mode over the Circuit Breaker period and have been wondering what to do with your used shoes, you can now donate them to Adidas.

Here are the details of the shoe collection drive:
Date: 17 October to 30 November 2020
Venues: Adidas stores at Bugis Junction, ION Orchard, Jem, Jewel Changi Airport, Marina Bay Sands, Suntec City and VivoCity
Looking for: Used sports shoes, school shoes and football boots without metal studs

While the shoes can be from any brand, not just Adidas, they should be dry and generally clean.

The German sportswear brand is supporting Sport Singapore (SportSG) and materials science company Dow’s project, ‘Others see an old shoe. We see the future’. Instead of being dumped into the landfill, your used shoes will be transformed into sports infrastructure such as jogging tracks, fitness corners and playgrounds.

How it works

Aside from helping to save the Earth by lowering carbon emissions, donating a pair of shoes will also land you 30% off your next Adidas footwear purchase made between 17 October to 30 November 2020. If you donate 3 or more pairs, you will receive a 35% discount off your next footwear purchase during the same time frame.

Before you redeem your discount, you’ll have to present your old shoes at the counter for Adidas retail staff to verify while you make your footwear purchase.

Once your used shoes have been verified, discount redeemed and purchase of new Adidas footwear has been completed, you can safely place your pre-loved shoes in the designated upcycling collection bin.

This offer can only be used at the Adidas stores listed above, where the collection bins are located. It is not valid on slides, YEEZYs and other hype products. Other terms and conditions apply as well, so do read them before heading down.

As mentioned above, the Adidas shoe collection drive is in support of the ‘Others see an old shoe. We see the future’ project.

The collaborative initiative seeks to recycle 300,000 pairs of used sports shoes, in order to help reduce our local landfill waste and reduce carbon emissions.

If you’re wondering how your old shoes will magically be transformed into sports infrastructure, here’s how it works. Your shoes will be sent to a grinding facility, where the rubberised soles and midsoles will be ground up into rubber granules. These will then be used as building materials for jogging tracks, fitness corners and playgrounds.

Besides Adidas stores, you can also opt to drop them at selected ActiveSG’s sports stadiums and centres, Decathlon stores, JD sports stores and community centres. For a full list of collection points, check out ActiveSG’s website

These collection points have been accepting donations since 26 September and will be doing so until 30 November 2020, so you can already make your way down to donate your old shoes.

Donate Your Old Shoes Through Adidas And Other Partnering Local Brands

Gather your used sports shoes and bring them down to the Adidas stores mentioned above from 17 October to 30 November 2020. You’ll play a part in building sports infrastructure while reducing carbon emissions and score a sweet discount at the same time.
