Sanrio characters have a sweet and innocent image, so it is not everyday you get to see them in half-dissected designs, like the ones from Mighty Jaxx’s Kandy x Sanrio collection. If this transformation of the cute Sanrio characters is right up your alley, read on to find out how you can add these exclusive collectibles to your collection.
For the unacquainted, Mighty Jaxx is an award-winning Singapore-based studio that specialises in designer toys and premium art collectibles. The brain behind this collection is artist Jason Freeny, who won fame thanks to his Hidden Dissectibles designs that offer a look inside characters like My Little Pony.
Featuring seven Sanrio characters, this collection has figurines of Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin, Bad Badtz Maru, Keroppi, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll packed in individual blind boxes. This means you won’t know which character you have in your hands until you open the box.
As mentioned earlier, each Sanrio figurine is split into half ‒ one half shows them in their original self, and the other half is inspired by a different coloured candy. The latter is made from coloured see-through PVC that mimics actual hard candies.
For example, you’ll find half of My Melody in bubblegum pink, and Pompompurin in a half-golden caramel.
Among the characters, Cinnamoroll is the rarest, which makes the collection of all seven figurines a lil’ more challenging. The half-exposed part of Cinnamoroll comes in a lovely blue which is inspired by ice cream soda candies.
Make sure your Sanrio collection stands out from others with one of these half-dissected figurines. They’re also excellent gift ideas for a Sanrio-loving friend who loves surprises.
Each figurine costs USD$12.99 (~S$17.90) per blind box, but you can also get them in a tray of six boxes at USD$74.99 (~S$103.10). Available on Mighty Jaxx’s official website starting from 25 May 2022, 10PM SGT, the collection also ships to Singapore for $3.88.
