If seeing the Sentosa Island Lights with Sanrio Characters wasn’t enough to satisfy your need for cute activities, look to the upcoming Rilakkuma Virtual Run for your fix of kawaii. After being cooped up for the first few days of 2021 due to the incessant rain, it might be nice to get some fresh air or maybe even go for a 3-kilometre run if you’re up for a challenge. You’ll even receive cute freebies and discounts at the Rilakkuma Cafe while you’re at it.

The Rilakkuma Virtual Run is a minimum 3-kilometre run that you can do at your own pace, whenever it’s convenient for you. Registration starts from $38 and ends on 31 January. The run period will start on 1 February and end on 20 February.

After registering, you have between 1 to 20 February to complete your run. Within that period, you also have to submit a screenshot of any smart device that shows you’ve completed a distance of at least 3km. 

As with other runs and sporting events since the start of the pandemic, you do not have to participate alongside other people. And, you are allowed to take as much time as you need. There is also no set route, so you are free to go to your favourite park or explore Singapore if you’d like.

Upon registering for the run, each participant will receive a set of freebies. Some of the gifts include a drawstring bag with Rilakkuma and friends on the front, as well as a medal commemorating the event.

The other free gift that will be delivered straight to your doorstep is a limited-edition hand towel with a similar design to the drawstring bag. Both the bag and the towel show Rilakumma falling asleep while cheering you on with his friends.

If you do complete the race, you will receive an e-certificate celebrating your achievement.

Once you’ve registered for the run, you will automatically be eligible to claim a gift from the JTB Rurubu Gift Shop at Takashimaya Shopping Centre until 31 January. The free gifts are worth $6 to $15 each. They will be given away on a first-come-first-serve basis, and are only available for the first 300 customers, so you have to be quick.

Aside from the free gift, you will also be entitled to discounts at both the JTB Rurubu Gift Shop and the Kumoya x Rilakumma Cafe at Orchard Central. You’ll receive a 20% storewide discount at the gift shop and 10% off all food and beverage items at the cafe.
