Exhibitions in Singapore for January 2025
1. AMAZÔNIA: Photographs by Sebastião Salgado
Visit the Amazon Rainforest without having to hop on a flight at this exhibition held at the National Museum of Singapore. AMAZÔNIA: Photographs by Sebastião Salgado is an exhibition curated by Lélia Wanick Salgado—a multi-sensory and immersive experience with over 200 photos, 2 projection rooms, and video testimonials from Indigenous leaders. This exhibition aims to showcase the lifestyles of the native Indigenous people, as well as highlight the effects of deforestation and climate change. Do take note that this exhibition will feature photographic artworks of both male and female nudity as well as imagery of dead animals, which could be difficult to see for some viewers.

2. ARTBOX Everyday
ARTBOX Everyday is back again for another year! This is the biggest creative festival in Singapore, featuring over 190 creative local and international brands at the festival. Along with retail therapy, you can look forward to over 90 F&B brands, activities, live performances, and art installations. An admission ticket for ARTBOX costs $5 for the day and there are a lot of perks included: a free ARTBOX temporary tattoo, a free play at the claw machine, and you can even stand a chance to win a Dongfeng box, an innovative electric car by Volt Auto. You can easily spend the entire day here, so make sure you head down early to maximise the experience.

3. Light to Night Festival
Singapore Art Week is also slowly approaching, with the Light to Night Festival being part of the lineup of celebrations. The festival is returning for its 9th year, with the theme “Do You See Me?” which showcases nuanced interpretations of the diversity of people, place, and space. The theme links back to Singapore’s multifaceted identity and the milestones it will be celebrating, such as SG60 and the 10th anniversary of the National Gallery. Light to Night will have over 70 programmes, light projections, and art installations that will light up iconic buildings in the Civic District.

4. Aliwal Urban Arts Festival

5. Culture Cartel Singapore
Happening from 17 January to 19 January, Culture Cartel is a street culture convention that aims to challenge the status quo regarding street culture, ultimately becoming Asia’s first and only immersive experience that incorporates offline, online, and elements of the metaverse. This convention is back and is bigger than ever, featuring famous brands such as Adidas, CASETiFY, and McDonald’s. 6. We Call It Ballet
If you can never get enough of ballet, you must see We Call It Ballet. This troupe comprises 6 talented Australian dancers performing their rendition of the timeless fairytale, Sleeping Beauty. The show is a fusion between modern technology and traditional ballet, where dancers perform in glow-in-the-dark costumes. Watch the story of how a true love’s kiss wakes Aurora up from a 100-year curse unfold while the dancers literally light up the stage. 7. Gardens By The Bay Spring Blossoms
As part of the Chinese New Year festivities, Gardens By The Bay will be premiering Spring Blossoms: Legend of Lady White Snake. This floral display is inspired by one of China’s 4 great folklore tales: The Legend of the White Snake. The story is about the union between a man, Xu Xian, and a snake spirit, Bai Suzhen, more commonly known as Lady White Snake. This floral display is a collaboration with leading China landscaping company Beijing Florascape and will feature over 100 dahlias, with five new varieties. At the centre of attention, there is a 4.5m mosiaculture statue of the protagonist, Madam White Snake. This is bound to be super aesthetic, so make sure to snap some pics for your IG!

8. Candlelight Concert At SEA Aquarium
Imagine listening to the instrumental version of your favourite soundtrack while watching majestic sea creatures swim peacefully in the background. If you want this experience, you should attend the Candlelight Concert at SEA Aquarium. Happening on 17 January, they will be playing music from popular films such as Ponyo, Madagascar and Spirited Away! Entry into SEA Aquarium begins an hour before the concert starts while seating only starts 20 minutes before, giving you 40 minutes to soak in the magic of the SEA Aquarium after hours.

9. Flashback Friday by UnfilteredPresents
Release all the tension from the work week at Flashback Friday by UnfilteredPresents! Known for their themed nights, they have previously hosted club nights featuring music from pop princesses Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande. Not just that, they’ve also played music from the—dare we say—best era of Disney with songs from High School Musical, and Camp Rock. This Flashback Friday in particular, will be centred around music from the pop queens of the early 2000s, so if you love Rihanna or Britney Spears, this is the event for you.
