Our city has played host to several iconic concert tours this year, from Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour to the upcoming sold-out Olivia Rodrigo Guts show. If you think your bank balance can take a break before the end of the year, well, here’s news: the celebrated K-pop girl group, 2NE1, will be performing in Singapore come 21 December 2024.
We don’t have information about ticket sale dates, venue and ticket prices yet, so watch this space. What we do know is that the concert is organised by Live Nation, so deets will most likely come from their newsletter or their socials.
You don’t have to be a K-pop fan to understand how big this is. Formed by YG Entertainment in 2009, 2NE1 comprised of four members: Bom, Dara, CL, and Minzy. They were one of the pioneering girl groups that cemented K-pop’s impact beyond South Korea’s borders, shaking the music scene up with chart-topping hits like “I Am The Best”, “Ugly”, and “I Don’t Care”. This dominance continued globally until the group went on hiatus in 2016.
Earlier this year, though, diehard Blackjacks were rewarded with the announcement that 2NE1 is back and going on tour this year, in honour of their 15th anniversary. Dubbed the Welcome Back Tour, the group will play several shows in Asia. The tour starts off in Seoul and will make its way to cities like Hong Kong, Manila, and Jakarta too.
The announcement of this tour is the cherry on top of all the teasers we’ve gotten for 2NE1’s reunion. In 2022, the group reunited for a Coachella performance, sparking rumours that the quartet are getting back together. Then, in the recent K-music festival, Waterbomb Singapore, fans were treated to a performance by CL and Dara, where the duo teased a return to Singapore.
Patience pays off, Blackjacks.
