Achievements by women don’t have to be celebrated only on International Women’s Day. As a way to elevate women’s voices and stories, Aesop has launched their Women’s Library, which runs from now till 24 April 2022 and offers visitors a free book each.
Located only at Aesop VivoCity and Aesop Marina Bay Sands, the Women’s Library features books by local female authors like Pooja Nansi and Stephanie Chan. Continue reading to find out more about the library.
Instead of Aesop products, the shelves of the two stores will be filled entirely with books written by South East Asian authors, including our homegrown writers ‒ Pooja Nansi, Melissa De Silva, Amanda Chong, Stephanie Chan, and Annaliza Bakri.
The selection includes recommendations from four collaborating publishing houses, which doubles as a platform for local literary voices. Asian literature enthusiasts would also be pleased to learn that the Aesop Women’s Library includes a multitude of genres, from short stories to novels and poetry, and over 50 titles.
Normally, libraries require their visitors to return the borrowed books, but you won’t have to worry about late fees with the Aesop Women’s Library. Each customer is allowed to select a book of their choice with no strings attached, so you can literally walk in and walk out with a free book.
On top of the complimentary books, Aesop Women’s Library will also broadcast an audio collage ‒ an extension of Aesop’s global Sounds of sisterhood ‒ which is also available for listening online. This version of Sounds of sisterhood features Singaporean artist Weish, who incorporates layers of live loops, vocals, and experimental instrumentation into her music.
Additionally, visitors of the Aesop Women’s Library get to listen to stories of affection, wisdom, and the multifaceted nature of womanhood. For the full list of titles and Sounds of sisterhood mix, be sure to visit Aesop’s official website.
Bring along a friend, and head over to Aesop Women’s Library as a way to show support to local female literary voices. Interested peeps can visit either Aesop VivoCity or Aesop Marina Bay Sands from now till 24 April 2022, and you might just leave with a new read.
