Events in Singapore August 2018
If you weren’t lucky enough to score tickets to the parade this year, it’s okay man. There are other years to come and August has plenty more events in celebration of National Day.
From the Night Festival to Halsey’s concert, here’s a list of 33 events happening this month to keep you and your girlfriends occupied.

1. Singapore Garden Festival 2018
Explore Insta-worthy floral displays at the Singapore Garden Festival. Besides observing the main displays, check out the horticulture marketplace and all-day live performances.

2. Singapore Night Festival
At the annual Singapore night festival, be enthralled by the 16 light installations by both local and international artists.
From 23 to 25 August 2018, revellers can also look forward to a dynamic display of 27 performances from genres across the different arts disciplines, presented alongside an eclectic collective of F&B options and artisan craft offerings.

3. Creators We Love: WeWork 22 Cross Street Launch
At Creators We Love, attend a talk by local artists to hear how they’ve created a meaningful life from living their passions. Afterwards, join them for masterclasses which include silkscreen book printing, hand lettering, and woodcutting, before letting your hair down with a house party from 9.00pm till late.

4. Art Exhibition – The World’s Loneliest Bookstore
Catch Books Actually’s exhibition that questions the need for books in an apocalyptic world.
Following the disaster, only one woman remains in Singapore. With the books she has scavenged, she has decided to set up the last remaining bookstore on earth.

5. We Are Singapore Run 2018
Run 8km with the Gei Gei Running Club. Just show up in your favourite red and white athleisure and have a fun time sweating it out.

6. National Day at CÉ LA VI
Celebrate National Day 57-floors above the city at CÉ LA VI Singapore. Get front row seats to the firework display as you munch on BBQ bites and dance to the beats of afro-latin, soulful house, and nu disco tunes.

7. Disco Lah!
71 floors up, Bar Rouge is another option to watch the National Day parade from a bird’s eye view. Munch on complimentary kachang puteh while you sip on Singapore Slings. If you decide to stay past sunset, know that ladies get free flow drinks from 10.00pm to 1.00am.

8. Asian Short Films (IndigNation Queer Film Festival 2018)
Catch queer movies from Asia such as Cocoon from China, Any Other Day from India, and A Simple Day from Myanmar, at the annual Indignation Queer Film Festival.

9. Pop Up Cinema

10. Doctors Without Borders Film Festival
Doctors Without Borders Film Festival aims to bring human suffering and humanitarian crises from half a world away to our consciousness here.
In five documentaries, follow the dangers medics face while being on the front line of a fatal attack in Afghanistan, to how doctors help refugees at the height of winter.

12. Halsey World Tour Singapore 2018
Halsey, who staged a stunning performance at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix in 2016, is set to hold her first full-fledged concert in Singapore at The Star Theatre.
Known for her dark and gritty electropop sounds and lyrics, you can expect top hits such as “Colours”, “Castle”, “Closer”, “Bad at Love”, and “No or Never”.
