5 Girls Review The Collagen Drink That Claims To Tighten Pores, Brighten Skin & Reduce Wrinkles In 7 Days

ZULA Team Tries: AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink

Working from home is a common reality for many Singaporeans these days. Without the need to leave the house, most of us are also opting to WFH (or even work from bed) barefaced. Which is all well and good… until you need to hop on a last-minute Zoom call and face your colleagues, bosses or clients without a scrap of makeup on. So when we heard about AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink, which claims to repair damaged skin and solve major skin issues in 3 days, as well as tighten pores, brighten skin and reduce wrinkles in 7 days, we knew we had to put it to the test. Naturally glowing skin even without makeup? Sign us up.

AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink contains Orchid stemcell extracts to repair and rejuvenate damaged skin cells. For those thinking the claims sound too good to be true, the brand conducted several clinical tests on a variety of sample size groups and periods.

The first test was based on 9 adults over 4 weeks. The testers’ wrinkles decreased by 12.6%, elasticity increased by 12.5%, skin brightness increased by 8.9%, pores were reduced by 5.6% and UV spots decreased by 5.4%. In a separate test, 98.1% out of 259 Singaporean respondents felt a difference after just 3 bottles.

To find out if there’s truth to these claims, we tasked 5 members of the ZULA team to try the drink. Since we were all new users, it was recommended that we take a bottle every day for 7 consecutive days, which was what we did.

1. Yihui

Previous experience with consumable skincare products

I’ve struggled with red acne scars since last year, and have tried using creams and serums to no avail. On the other hand, I’ve never tried supplements or consumable skincare products because I’ve always had a sceptical mindset towards them.

But, there’s a first time for everything. Plus, when I mentioned to my mum that I was embarking on this trial, she told me that she’d heard good things about AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink from her friends. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping it will help lighten my red spots.”

Day 1: First impressions

“The bottle comes in a cute size. Thanks to the pink cap and labels, it looks less daunting and not very medicinal. I was surprised by the taste because I didn’t expect it to be so sparkling, but it was not too overwhelming.

The drink has a subtly sweet lychee taste, which is great because I’m not a fan of overly sweet stuff. I’m also pleasantly surprised that it contains actual fruit juice and has no added sugar.”

Day 3: Midpoint Check-in

“Compared to the first day, my red spots were no longer as red or inflamed. There were also lesser red spots on my right cheek. I’m starting to believe more in consumable skincare products.”

Day 7: Final thoughts

Before (left) and after (right) the 7 days with clearer skin and less noticeable red spots

“There’s definitely a big difference from the first day. My right cheek is usually red and you’d be able to notice the redness from afar. But by the end of the week, my right cheek was calmer and the redness was less noticeable.

Overall, this has changed my perception of consumable skincare. And with mandatory masks making it more troublesome to apply topical skincare products, consumable skincare may be a more convenient option. In fact, I’m thinking of buying more boxes of AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink to continue consuming it even now that the review period is over.”

2. Annabelle

Previous experience with consumable skincare products

“As someone who is super low-maintenance, I’ve never tried supplements or consumable skincare products.

My main skin concerns are dull skin, uneven skin tone and enlarged pores. I’m looking forward to seeing if religiously drinking AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink for 7 days can indeed grant me radiant skin and reduce the size of my pores.”

Day 1: First impressions

“The package stated that it’s best served chilled, so I put all 7 bottles in the fridge. It tastes like a fizzy lychee drink and is surprisingly yummy. I think I’m going to enjoy this trial.”

Day 3: Midpoint Check-in

“I didn’t notice any significant changes to my stubborn acne scars at this stage. Overall, my skin did look slightly more glowy, but I wasn’t sure if it was due to the drink or humidity.

Surprisingly, I’ve had no issues remembering to consume the drink daily. In fact, it’s become a pick-me-up that I look forward to at the end of the day!”

Day 7: Final thoughts

Before (left) and after (right) the 7 days with brighter skin and less visible pores

“After a week, I did feel that my skin appeared brighter. My complexion also seemed to be smoother and more even-toned. It also felt less prone to oiliness in general.

Considering the only effort required was for me to down a yummy chilled concoction daily, I’m definitely happy with the results.”

3. Jielin

Previous experience with consumable skincare products

In the past, I have tried other consumable skincare products, but they never seemed to have any effect at all. I feel that they have to be taken over extended durations to see obvious results.

I have heard of the AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink but never tried it myself, so I’m excited to try it first-hand. The main thing I’m hoping for is that it will make my pores less obvious, especially on my nose. I also have redness in the same area, as well as on the sides of my nose. It’d be great if it ends up evening out the tone of that area in general.”

Day 1: First impressions

“The bottle looks like it’s made of glass so it gives off this atas vibe. I did notice that it is Halal certified, which is a good thing cause it means more people can drink it.

The drink itself smells and tastes like fruit juice, but sparkling! This was okay for me, even though I’m not a fan of sugary drinks (I drink bubble tea with 0% sugar).”

Day 3: Midpoint Check-in

“The most significant change so far was that my nose area looked less red and more even toned. Aside from that, my complexion also looked less dull, which is a plus.”

Day 7: Final thoughts

Before (left) and after (right) the 7 days with brighter skin and less visible pores

“This isn’t my own observation, but I met up with a friend yesterday and she commented that I looked more radiant compared to the last time she saw me. Brighter skin? Nice.

It’s hard to say if it met my expectations considering it’s only been 7 days, but there have been minor improvements in terms of skin tone. I think I may need to use the product for a longer period or even alongside other lifestyle changes since consistency is key, after all.”

4. Leah

Previous experience with consumable skincare products

“Due to my hectic lifestyle, I’ve never tried consumable skincare products before.

My concerns are usually pigmentation and dark spots. Occasionally, I get pimples under the skin too. I hope the drink will give my skin a subtle glow., I’m not expecting it to reduce pimples or major acne but for my skin to look healthier.”

Day 1: First impressions

“The drink looks super concentrated because of the size of the packaging. The glass bottle is of great quality although it was a bit hard to open.

The drink smells and tastes like lychee but super concentrated. I feel like I’m drinking a vitamin drink, like those vitamin C tablets that you dissolve in water.”

Day 3: Midpoint Check-in

“Though there wasn’t a huge difference in terms of my skin overall, I did notice certain subtle improvements. The redness has gone down from the first day. The left side of my face has also cleared up slightly.”

Day 7: Final thoughts

Before (left) and after (right) the 7 days with a more even skin tone

“My skin felt slightly smoother and less dry at the end of the week. The redness definitely went down over time and I didn’t spot any new acne marks or spots coming up during the week, which was great.

While the product did help in terms of allowing my skin to feel healthier and rejuvenated, it wasn’t by a huge amount. It was an interesting experience as I never thought that you could improve your skin just by consuming a drink. With continued consumption of the drink, coupled with healthier lifestyle habits (sleeping early, drinking lots of water) and wearing less makeup, the effects will probably be more apparent.”

5. Vivien

Previous experience with consumable skincare products

“As someone with sensitive skin, I’m curious to know if drinking AVALON’s Stemcell Beauty Drink will improve my skin condition over the following week without the risk of irritation. My only impression of the product is that my close friend’s mother uses it every other day and she swears by it.

My main skin concerns are dull skin and uneven skin tone, especially under my eyes, around my chin and the upper lip area. I also have some redness in my cheeks at the moment as I had a small pimple outbreak last week.”

Day 1: First impressions

“Personally, when I think of beauty drinks, I don’t imagine them to be fizzy. This has a sweet lychee taste and is quite sparkly, which was surprising to me, in a good way. Since it is a small bottle and easy to drink in one go, I think I’ll have no problem drinking it daily.”

Day 3: Midpoint Check-in

“I did notice that the redness on my right cheek had mostly cleared up, as well as some of the redder areas on my forehead. My skin also appeared slightly brighter, but the dull areas near my jaw and upper lip remained.”

Day 7: Final thoughts

Before (left) and after (right) the 7 days with clearer and brighter skin

“Compared to when I started the trial, my skin did indeed look brighter and the red patches on my cheeks had cleared up. The area under my eyes was also less dark and grey which is significant to me considering I stayed up to watch Netflix well into the night most days this week.

I was honestly surprised at how effective the drink turned out to be. I didn’t expect it to brighten my face in such a short amount of time. At the end of the trial, I could also feel that my skin was firmer and a bit bouncier too. I’d definitely consider continuing to take the drink to maintain or improve my skin.”

AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink

Even though the 5 reviewers had different skin types and concerns, AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink was gentle and suitable for all of us, even those with sensitive skin.

In the spirit of investigation, we conducted a separate experiment to see the unbiased effects of the drink, since everyone’s skin responds differently to products.

We first cut an organic apple in half, then soaked the halves face down in a plate filled with tap water and AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink respectively.

The half soaked in water (left) vs the half soaked in AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink (right)

At the end of the experiment, the half soaked in tap water turned brown. The half soaked in the AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink, however, did not, thanks to the high levels of antioxidants in the drink. ICYMI, antioxidants are substances that can protect your skin from harmful free radicals and sun damage.

In addition to antioxidants, the drink’s main ingredient, Orchid stemcell extract, is another powerhouse ingredient. A test conducted by AVALON based on skin cells showed that Orchid stemcell is 128% more effective in repairing damaged skin cells, giving you brighter and healthier skin.

AVALON Stemcell Beauty Drink also contains premium marine collagen peptides, which work to replenish your skin with collagen and lock in moisture. Lastly, if you thought the sparkling water in the drink is just to make it taste good, think again. It also helps to boost nutrient absorption and promote skin metabolism for healthy cells.
