As Chinese New Year is all about dressing up and donning new clothes to symbolise a fresh beginning, many of us want to look our very best — for our IG feeds too, of course. But if you’ve waited too long to book a nail appointment, chances are they’re already fully booked, or you have to face the unavoidable CNY surcharge looming over the final bill.
Not to fret — there’s no need to let your nails go bare this year. Pluto Studios, a craft workshop located at Queensway Shopping Centre, now has a DIY press on nails workshop to give you perfect nails all year round.
The workshop includes access to all the materials they have, such as a large variety of nail polish colours, charms, powders, nail stickers and tools. The best part? There’s no extra charge for using as many charms as you want, so you’re free to go wild.
Endless kawaii sticker designs are available, ranging from Sanrio characters to aesthetic flower prints. Everything is fully customisable here, right down to the size and shape of each nail.
After creating your design, you’ll have to apply a top coat and cure the nails under a UV lamp before taking them home.
You can even think of this workshop as a nail buffet — all attendees are allowed to make as many nail sets as they want, as long as it is completed within the session.
Not to worry if you’re a beginner — light instructions on how to make your press ons will be provided by the staff.
However, the workshop is mostly a self-guided session to let your creative juices flow, so customers are encouraged to prepare their design inspirations before the session.
1-hour sessions are available at $38, while the 2-hour sessions are available at $70. According to Pluto Studio’s website, a 2-hour session is highly recommended for first timers.
