Friend date ideas in Singapore
You’ve probably seen the “very demure, very cutesy, very mindful” all over your TikTok FYP, and some of us just can’t stop saying it. If you’re one of those who haven’t caught on yet, let us break it down for you.
TikToker Jools Lebron started this trend when she began to describe her actions and appearance as “very demure, very mindful and very cutesy” in her videos. The phrase mainly refers to actions that are proper and considerate, not burdening the people around them. It also suggests a more elegant and simple way of doing things.

Now that you’re up to speed, we’ve curated a few friend date ideas in Singapore that capture the essence of the trend. Perfect for a calm relaxing weekend with your besties!

1. Pottery painting
If you worry about ruining your manicure during pottery classes, don’t fret! You can enjoy pottery painting with your besties instead and keep your nails and outfits spotless.
Located at Queensway Shopping Centre, PotteryPlease! is a pottery painting studio we’d recommend because of how affordable the sessions are. You just have to pay the studio fee of $28 and choose the pottery piece you want to paint on, priced from $8. See how they’re very mindful about their pricing?
The instructors there will brief you on the process and you’ll start painting your designs on your chosen pottery pieces. We recommend finding designs that you want to paint beforehand to avoid any anxiety during your session. Being unprepared is not very demure.
PotteryPlease! does take walk-ins but they recommend booking a slot online to ensure that you get the full 1.5-hour session to perfect your painting.
Address: 1 Queensway, #03-40 and #03-48, Queensway Shopping Centre, Singapore 149053
Opening hours: 1pm to 8:30pm (Tuesdays to Sundays) | Closed on Mondays
2. DIY music box
I don’t know about you, but I remember owning a pink music box with a twirling ballerina when I was younger. I still think about it today so if you’re feeling a little nostalgic and have the budget, you can try customising your own music box with your best friend.
Wooderful Life specialises in custom music boxes as well as wooden merchandise like lamps and bobbleheads. Originating from Taiwan, the brand is committed to using wood from sustainable forests and they pay close attention to the manufacturing and treatment processes of their products. Very mindful.
@wooderfullife.sg Thanks @Xiao jie for featuring us ❤️ . We proudly serve as the first official Wooderful Life shop in Singapore, conveniently located in Funan. You’ve probably heard of this Taiwanese brand known for crafting exquisite wooden music boxes. In our boutique, you have the unique opportunity to personalize your own music box by selecting the base, melody, and decorative ornaments. We’ll even throw in some free guidance to help you work your DIY magic! We’re thrilled to share this beautiful craft with you ❤️ Drop by our Funan store 02-K06 to experience it now~ . #wooderfullifemusicbox #preciousmoments #sgworkshop #sgevent #sggifts #handmadesg #giftideas #sgcouple #dating #familybonding #familylove #couplegoals #wooderfullife #bestgift #gettogether #withfriends #sgactivities #friendship #woodencraft #woodenfigurines #figurine #wooden #woodesign #buildyourown

The customisation process is fairly simple, start by selecting your music box base and the melody that you want it to produce. You can then choose from a variety of ornaments to delicate your music box including everything from your favourite cartoon characters to cute potted plants. Very cutesy.
You can then assemble everything onto the base, customise it with your initials, and watch as the ornaments move along with the melody. Very demure.
The prices for the different parts of the music box vary, but the total experience will probably set you back around $80 to $150. Despite the relatively high price point, it’s a good activity to treat yourself with on special occasions. Do remember to book a slot via their website and make the deposit of $50 to confirm your booking.

3. Tufting
Instead of buying a rug or coaster from Shopee, grab some friends and attend a tufting workshop together. Enjoy tufting in the comfort of an air-conditioned studio while keeping your makeup intact and your outfits clean.
Anna Craft Creative is Singapore’s most affordable tufting studio, with workshops priced from $40 per person. The studio prides itself on its affordability, and the owner strives to make tufting accessible to everyone.
@shutupntry probably the cheapest rug tufting I can find in sg, it’s fun but quite tiring lol
You get to choose from more than 100 different coloured yarns to create your own masterpiece. The staff will guide you through using the tufting gun, and you can even put your tufted pieces onto bags, mirrors and cushion covers at a small cost. This way, you’ll get more use out of it. Be sure to book your slots with them through WhatsApp or their website and send in your designs so they can advise you on the feasibility of it.

4. Make your own jewellery
If you’re missing the friendship bracelet-making frenzy from The Eras Tour earlier this year, gather your girls and customise some jewellery together again. From bracelets and rings to even phone straps, the possibilities are endless.
@21.sg is a craft studio offering services ranging from crystal bracelet making to DIY glass decorating. The DIY crystal bracelet workshop will cost you at least $15, with additional charges for different crystals. Beyond the typical beads, you can also choose from various crystals and charms to personalise your bracelet.
If you want to be cutesy on a budget, you don’t even need to attend a workshop to create your own jewellery. Just head down to any craft store that sells beads and supplies, or simply just order them online, and set up your own DIY workshop at home with your friends.
Address: 100D Pasir Panjang Road, #05-11, Singapore 118520
Opening hours: 2pm to 8pm daily
5. Scented candle making
If you want even your home to smell “very demure and very cutesy”, try a scented candle-making workshop with your friends.
Slow Scent Company is one of the few places that offer scented candle-making workshops in Singapore. There, you’ll learn the basics of candle-making and scent blending to create your fully-customisable soy wax candle.
Workshop prices start at $60. You can also make your own manifestation candle by adding various crystals to the top of your candle. The Crystal Botanical Candle Making Workshop is priced at $65. If you and the BFFs are crystal gorlies, then this makes for an excellent friend date idea.
If you’re not a fan of candles, opt for a room spray customisation session instead, priced from $60. Enjoy a 10% discount when you attend these workshops in a group of 4 or more!

6. DIY plush bag charms
If you want to add a cutesy touch to your bags, make your own bag charm instead of buying one online. This way, you can ensure that your bag charm matches your vibe perfectly.
Originating from Korea, Moru Dolls are becoming increasingly popular as bag charms in Singapore because of their adorable features, and how fun they are to DIY.
@miyocandle It’s so cute you have to come and make one of your own 🙈💛 #singapore #dateidea #morudoll
Over at Miyo Candle, you can assemble and customise your own Moru Doll in either their one-day class or master class. They also offer extensive DIY classes on top of doll making. From perfume-making to dessert candle-making classes, you might need to head down a few times with your BFFs to experience it all. The classes are available by booking, and you have to drop them a message on their Instagram page for more information.
