The mention of Funan might bring to mind shopping sprees, cafe hopping, or even those rock climbing walls that stretch across multiple floors. But, for Singapore Art Week 2026, the downtown mall is switching things up, transforming once again into an art playground with the return of Creative Intersections, this time themed “HOBBYHORSE: Rhythm and Forms of Play.”
Running from now to 22nd February 2026, Creative Intersections blurs the lines between art and everyday life. Ordinary retail spaces have been transformed into stages for creativity, movement, and playful experimentation. Across the mall, expect interactive installations and unexpected performances that celebrate the Year of the Horse.

If you’re someone who enjoys stumbling upon art while running errands, this one’s for you. You’ll find over 20 installations by 24 artists, including 15 artist-brand collaborations, woven seamlessly into the mall’s everyday flow.

Here’s something you need to know to make the most of your visit: Creative Intersections this year is inspired by the folkloric hobbyhorse, a toy that sits somewhere between game and ritual. The exhibition explores how hobbies, routines, and even mild obsessions influence the way we live and express ourselves.
Keep an eye out for standout installations such as the Six Passion Horses, the dynamic Kinetic Wall, and the returning Grand Stairs activation. The latter turns the iconic staircase on Level 1 into an interactive puzzle. Visitors can wander through the imagined mane and count the horseshoes nestled within.
The first 200 shoppers to guess the correct number of horseshoes will stand to win 2,000 STAR$ (worth $2) weekly from now to 22nd February 2026, while stocks last. All you have to do is scan the QR code found within the installation and submit your answers via the Google Form. Do note that participants must be a CapitaStar member to be eligible.

And you don’t need to spend your SG Culture Pass to enjoy Creative Intersections, either. Everything is free to explore, easy to wander through, and very much designed to be photographed, shared, and enjoyed with friends or family.
One of the things we love about Creative Intersections is how it sneaks art into places you’re already visiting. Brands you recognise get a playful makeover, starting with Allbirds (#01-24), where shoppers who spend a minimum of $200 can walk away with a limited-edition tote bag featuring artwork by visual artist Grace Tan.

Over at Audio-Technica (#03-K10), sound meets visual culture through an in-store turntable display paired with artwork by street artist ZERO, offering a moment to slow down and appreciate design beyond just what’s on your screen.
Families and younger creatives will want to bookmark lyf (Level 4), which will host a 20-minute live puppetry performance followed by a hands-on session by multidisciplinary duo thefoolishtribe. Sessions run on 31st January, 8th February, and 14th February at 10:30am and are priced at $10 per person. It makes for an affordable and creative family-friendly bonding activity.
Elsewhere, PPP Coffee (#02-19) adds a visual twist to your caffeine stop with Coffee Time by Sam. Look out for a digital in-store display and framed works that turn everyday coffee objects into playful, humorous art. Rounding things off is Edible Garden City (Level 7), featuring an interactive installation by wasteXscape, led by NUS landscape architecture students and alumni. This installation will gently nudge visitors to think about sustainability, waste, and how design can shape greener habits.
Here’s a little extra incentive to turn that shopping trip into a win, especially if you’re shopping for CNY. From now to 22nd February, shoppers who spend $250 eCapitaVoucher in a single transaction at participating retail stores can enjoy a $20 eCapitaVoucher cashback. It’s limited to the first 400 redemptions on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do note that the promotion is only valid for CapitaStar members and excludes supermarkets. But if you were already planning to shop, dine, or pick up something new while exploring the installations, this is a nice bonus to pocket along the way.
Art doesn’t always have to mean setting aside an entire afternoon to explore a museum. At Creative Intersections: HOBBYHORSE – Rhythm and Forms of Play, the experience is built into the spaces you’re already going to with your friends. You can dip in, wander around, and leave having seen something unexpected without committing to a full-on art crawl. Installations are scattered across the mall, and workshops are easy to slot into your day. Don’t worry, nothing will feel too intimidating here.
On top of that, you can redeem wearable artworks and earn cashback just by spending. It’s a win-win in our books. Creative Intersections runs from now to 22nd February 2026, so you’ve got time to explore – just maybe don’t leave it till the very last minute.
