Members of the renowned K-pop group BigBang have all reentered the spotlight in the past year, and G-Dragon is no exception. The group’s frontman has been announced as one of the headline acts for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix 2025 concerts, alongside Britpop legend Elton John.
G-Dragon is set to perform on 3 October, with tickets currently on sale on the Singapore Grand Prix website. Single-day passes start at $148.
G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, has long been dubbed the King of K-pop thanks to his virtuosic ability to sing, dance, rap, and write hit songs. During his time at BigBang, the star helped shape the contemporary K-pop landscape as we know it today while maintaining a prolific solo career from 2009.
His solo debut album Heartbreaker in 2009 was a commercial success, earning him multiple awards including “Album of the Year” at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
This year, G-Dragon is also slated to tour independently, in the wake of his upcoming album, Ubermensch.
Aside from his musical chops, G-Dragon is also known for his sense of style and is one of the figures we have to thank for popularising high-end streetwear.
From BigBang’s reunion performance at the MAMA Awards to T.OP.’s appearance on Squid Game 2, and Taeyang’s latest tour announcement, BigBang fans are being kept well-fed.
After a spate of controversies in 2019, the five-man group announced a hiatus, which followed a 2022 return. While their re-entrance into mainstream attention has been a slow and steady one, we’re confident that this is a sign of greater things to come.
The Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix 2025 will take place from 3 October to 5 October.
