Sanrio’s always coming up with classy ways to let us incorporate Hello Kitty into our everyday style. The recent Sanrio x Actually collection gave us some hip bucket hat options, for example. But for those who fancy a dash of shimmer and shine, this Susan Alexandra collaboration will pique your interest.
This 6-piece collection is handmade entirely from sparkly glass beads, strung together and used to create attention-grabbing purses, barrettes aka hair clips, and even a crown-like headband. If you’ve been looking for a unique way to spruce up your everyday look, this collab just might be the solution.
Did someone say “kawaii?” This beaded Hello Kitty purse is just that, with a ruby-red bow and yellow jewelled nose. The mini-bag can be easily paired with a white tennis skirt and some chunky pumps for a unique twist to the usual Y2K aesthetic.
The detailing in the purse allows you to incorporate texture to your chosen ensemble, which will slay the ‘gram.
The Hello Kitty purse is priced at $325 USD (~ S$442.34).
For a quick bad hair day fix, sometimes a cap just doesn’t cut it but, these glittery Hello Kitty bow barrettes should do just the trick. The barrettes come in 2 designs, 1 in a bright red and the other themed in watermelon colours of pink and green, made from diamond-shaped glass beads.
Both barrettes also have Hello Kitty, with her very own bow, nestled in the centre making for an adorable bow-ception. The design is finished off with a Susan Alexandra charm for that dainty flair.
These bows are a classy way for you to liven up a simple ponytail or half-up hairdo or even as gifts to win over your nieces.
The bow barrettes are priced at $78 USD (~S$106.30), each.
A hairband can make or break any look,so a headband decked out with strawberries and rhinestones gets the Blair Waldorf stamp of approval. Shaped similar to a crown, the headband has 6 beaded strawberries lined up on the top with a beaded Hello Kitty smack in the centre.
The hairpiece definitely makes a statement, so if you’re one for eccentricity, this headband will have you looking like Sanrio royalty.
The headband is priced at $128 USD (~ S$174.46).
As with the rest of the collection, bows and ruby-red beads seem to be the running theme throughout — so here’s a piece that embodies that to a T. This bow-shaped purse consists completely of round-red beads, giving off an elegant flair despite the bold colour choice.
Statement purses have been an ongoing trend for a while now too, so you can hop onto the bandwagon and include this purse in your next set of OOTD Instagram posts for an edgy yet sweet vibe.
The bow purse is priced at $496 USD (~S$675).
Incorporating another juicy red fruit into the design, the collab’s final piece is this Hello Kitty apple keychain. The intricate details, from the apple’s beaded stem to Hello Kitty’s bow and whiskers, give the charm a regal air, allowing you to spice up any bag or pouch.
The keychain has a lobster clasp in gold so you can attach it anywhere easily, without the fear of having it go missing.
The keychain is priced at $78 USD (~ S$106.30).
All the pieces in the collection can be found on Sanrio’s website which currently doesn’t ship to Singapore. While we wait for it to hopefully be made available in Singapore, you can check out the Sophia Labels Sanrio collection for your dose of Hello Kitty charm.
This Sanrio x Susan Alexandra collection has just the right amount of sparkle to jazz up any outfit you’ve picked. After all, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to make heads turn with bold accessories and eye-catching purses.
