Back in April 2022, many Singaporeans visited the Louis Vuitton’s 200 Trunks Exhibition at Marina Bay Sands. There, we saw displays of creative trunks and a sneak peek of their vanity mahjong set. Good news for mahjong enthusiasts who have been eyeing that luxurious game set — it is now available for sale.
This is not the first time Louis Vuitton has released a mahjong set, as the 2022 version is inspired by their first mahjong trunk they introduced in the 1950s. Previously, the luxury brand also released mahjong sets in 2020 and 2021.
At first glance, you can easily tell that the vanity mahjong set is atas AF ‒ it has Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram pattern on the exterior canvas with locks and buckles in gold. Plus, the trunk is made by hand in corian and high-quality wood, and has dimensions of 47cm x 32cm x 26cm.
Once opened, you’ll be greeted by a carved wooden block on top with a motif of the monogram pattern. Below, there are six compartments that are made from natural cowhide and pine green which store 149 mahjong tiles, dice, four wooden rulers, wind indicators, and sticks. Each compartment also comes with a tab for easy handling.
Closing in on the details of the mahjong tiles, note how they are hand-carved and hand-painted with elements of Louis Vuitton’s signature floral motifs. Each tile is also made from walnut wood and stone.
That’s not all ‒ every aspect of the vanity mahjong set is hand-carved and put together with precision, such as the white diamond-shaped lining below the cover.
With such sophisticated craftsmanship, the vanity mahjong set is definitely a luxury piece to be displayed at home even when not in use.
Items from Louis Vuitton never come with a cheap price tag, and this vanity mahjong set retails at a whopping $89,500. According to Louis Vuttion’s official website, interested folks can purchase it at selected outlets in Singapore, but it is best to give them a call before heading down so your trip won’t be wasted.
