You Can “Buy” A Partner From A Vending Machine In Japan Instead Of Using Dating Apps

Matchmaking Vending Machine

Like some Gen Zs, I’ve tried out dating apps ― only to realise that not everyone is looking for something serious. However, with Japan’s latest matchmaking vending machine, you can skip all of the awkward conversation starters and potential situationships.

TikTok user, @bunnytokyo, shares her experience of stumbling upon the special vending machine in the streets of Tokyo. Instead of getting a chilly drink, you can meet someone new through a can who could then potentially be your future bae.

This interesting vending machine has descriptions of a person’s age, gender and income on each can. The common factor among all of them? These profiles are looking for a long-term relationship with the intention of settling down. FYI, the white cans represent the guys while the pink ones represent the girls.

Hopeful singles, who are seeking a lifelong partner, can purchase their desired “drink” for just JPY$1,000 (~$SGD9.51). TBH, spending a few dollars to find Mr Right is quite worth it.

Your experience doesn’t stop there, you’ll have to go through an interview with a matchmaking agent after obtaining your can, and also receive more information and pictures of your chosen person. From there, you can schedule a date to meet them IRL.

Bonus fact: the vending machine’s owner has an IRL matchmaking business too.

NGL, this concept makes a good rom-com plot but instead of your usual meet-cute, you get to meet your boo from a vending machine.

According to @bunnytokyo, she also mentions that all of the “drinks” were sold out. In today’s society, I guess a lot of people are still on the hunt for their other half.

Japan’s Matchmaking Vending Machine Will Help You Find Your Future Bae In No Time

Instead of swiping left, try swiping right on Japan’s unique concept of a matchmaking vending machine. With this easy and convenient purchase, you just might find “The Oneon your next trip to the land of the rising sun.
