If you’ve recently gotten your BTO flat or been inspired to revamp your house, a fresh and unique look is likely on the agenda.
An idea for sneakerheads out there to consider would be this new upcycled shoe box furniture created by South Korean artist Gyu Han Lee, designed out of actual shoe boxes. Now you have an excuse to keep them when your mom nags at you to clean your room.
This bench sofa comes in orange and is designed with two armrests, as well as a backrest to lean on. Made out of multiple orange Nike shoe boxes, the length of the couch is suitable for about three people to sit comfortably on.
Otherwise, you can also opt for the red couch, made out of more iconic Nike shoe boxes. Coming with a taller and thinner back, the couch has two armrests and a long bench so you can make a statement to your guests once they step into the house.
Go for the armchair in red and blue on the left if you prefer a singular seat. Made with flattened Nike shoe boxes, the long back is made of about four box surfaces, while the blue seat is made of one. The armrests and leg holders come in a glossy black, with orange Nike logo designs.
On the right, the white chair is essentially a smaller and single version of the sofas. Coming in white, the Nike logos are made of shiny lettering and emblazoned all over the chair.
For a more industrial vibe, the brown chair is made out of Nike cardboard boxes, and has the logo in black lettering. Made for one person, this chair is small and thin and will make for a cute minimalistic touch to your room.
Alternatively for a sleek and chic look, the singular chair in all-black includes a side panel that reads “never sleep on tour”.
Place these tables in your dining room to add a unique touch to your layout. You can consider the all-red table with four sides, or the purple table top with red legs, all made out of Nike shoe boxes. With the labels still stuck on the boxes, it’ll also be a good conversation starter amongst sneakerheads.
A great addition to your household to keep you and your family organised is this shoe rack made out of shoe boxes. The irony isn’t lost on us.
Designed with a four by four scale, the sides also include four more shoe boxes. There is a hole in the centre of the shoe racks so you can place items in the middle — reminding us of a cubby hole in preschool.
Not only do these furniture add style and comfort, but they are also eco-friendly by creatively upcycling usually-discarded boxes.
Other than Nike shoe boxes, designer Gyu Han Lee has also created other furniture designs incorporating brands such as Puma shoe boxes, as well as items like a McDonald’s paper bag lamp. While there is no information on how to purchase these pieces yet, you can head over to his IG if you’re interested in checking out his other creative works.
