Noise During Sex & Masturbation
Making noises like “ooh” and “ahh” during sexy times with bae is normal, especially since it indicates that you’re enjoying the act. However, based on a recent study by sex toy brand Arcwave, some men actually find it embarrassing to moan, whereas women actually make more noise during sex and masturbation. Read on for more juicy deets they discovered.
The moaning gap
According to the study, there is a gender moaning gap between men and women during masturbation and sex. 78% of women make noise during masturbation and 95% of them do so during sex. On the other hand, 60% of men moan when masturbating, and 85% make noise when having sex.
The result is rather interesting since a global survey conducted by Arcwave earlier in 2022 showed that men masturbate twice the number of women in a year ‒ they masturbate an average of 145 times and women do so about 76 times per year.
Looking into the reason behind the gap, the study revealed that 55% of men worry about being heard, 40% find it self-conscious, and 33% think that it is embarrassing and uncomfortable.
In comparison to men who moan during masturbation, 91% shared that it is because they enjoy themselves. Other reasons include making orgasms more intense (74%) and allowing them to feel closer to themselves (65%).
Encouraging both men and women to unmute their pleasure, Arcwave also touched on the importance of moaning during masturbation and sex.
Sex, love, and relationship coach Andrea Tea explained that making noise in the bedroom actually adds to the sexual experience, like intensifying the arousal for both parties. Plus, some also moan to express their satisfaction with their partner’s actions.
Sex toys
FYI, 82% of women find that hearing moans from their partner is a huge turn-on, whereas only 65% of men know about this fact. As a way to practice moaning, Arcwave is introducing multiple sex toys to encourage it.
