25 Romantic Restaurants In Singapore Worthy Of Date Nights

Romantic Restaurants In Singapore

With so many variables—food, ambience, location—finding a restaurant to bring bae can be tricky, especially if it is to celebrate special occasions such as an anniversary or even the night to pop the question. Below, we’ve compiled a list of romantic restaurants in Singapore that sets them apart from a usual date night.

1. Griglia

With a new outlet in Katong, Griglia is taking its goal of introducing Singaporeans to “authentic Italian flavours and hospitality” to the next level.

Once you enter the restaurant, you’ll be greeted by Griglia’s bar. Treat yourself and your date to a glass of Tropical Spritzer ($18) — which takes a local spin on popular Spritzers in Italy — or take your pick from Griglia’s extensive collection of wines.

The restaurant has an open kitchen concept, so you’ll get to watch as the chefs work their magic and meticulously prepare your meal. Consider starting your meal with appetisers like Cantabrian Anchovies ($7) or Prawn Tartare ($7), before digging in to a 450 Days Grain Fed Wagyu Beef Ribeye ($148) or Spiced Coastal Spring Lamb Rack ($88).

Address: 139 East Coast Road, Singapore 428829
Opening hours: 5:30pm to 11pm (Tuesdays to Thursdays) | 12pm to 3pm and 5:30pm to 11pm (Fridays to Sundays)

2. Mensho Tokyo

If you and bae love noods – and we mean the edible kind of course –, Mensho Tokyo is the latest kid on the block serving up delicious bowls of ramen to slurp over a date. Hailing from Japan, the restaurant is a cult classic among ramen enthusiasts abroad, and looks set to become the same on our local shores.

Don’t expect the usual fare here. Instead, open your mind and palates to unique creations like the Duck Matcha ($28) – a savoury matcha broth with chicken and duck chunks –, and the SG-exclusive Chilli Crab Ramen that melds both Singaporean and Japanese cuisines seamlessly together. You won’t need to dash after dining either – wind down your meal with a selection of desserts and cocktails after to end on a sweet note.

As the saying goes, “sharing is caring”. And at Australia-born Spanish restaurant MoVida, you’ll be able to do a lot of both with your SO. Start off by ordering exclusive tapas you can sink your teeth into including the Abalon ($16), that is meticulously grilled to perfection and the Croqueta de Langosta ($12), a lobster croquette.

The homely ambience will continue warming up your date with shareable entrees spanning Paella De Señorito ($75) a seafood paella and Cecina ($32), a delightful mix of wagyu beef and truffle potato. Coupled with the romantic interiors and a glass of their finest wine selections, don’t be surprised if you end up whispering sweet nothings to each other all night long.

Look forward to authentic Italian fare made meticulous with love, like the Keong Saik-exclusive Montanara ($34), a unique pizza that is deep-fried and baked with burrata cheese, tomato and pork sausages. Other mouthwatering delights include the  Tegamino con Cipolle, Asparagi e Guanciale ($32) starter that boasts onions, asparagus and pork jowl, as well as the creamy Risotto ai Ricci di Mare e Bottarga ($36).

If a fancy fine dining restaurant is too intimidating for a date setting, then keep it casual at the reopened Alice Boulangerie. Its flexibility of offering everything from breakfast to tea to dinner also makes it a suitable spot for any occasion.

On the food front, expect a fusion of Asian and European delights, such as the Seared Foie Gras Toast ($32), Otak Prawn Croquette ($19) and Sakura ‘Cherry Blossom’ Pork Loin ($60), before finishing off with a dessert-to-share – we heard the Forest ($23) is a must-try among chocolate lovers.

You can also have their goodness to-go by stopping by their shop front for a selection of pastries and coffee. To mark their reopening, the restaurant is also offering 50% off a second dish between 6 to 9pm on Mondays to Thursdays until 4 September 2024. Our personal fave has to be the Southern Crab Yellow Curry , which boasts a spice kick yet isn’t too spicy that it will have you grasping for the nearest glass of water. Those with a sweet tooth can cap off the date with the Grilled Banana Cake with Gula Melaka caramel and coconut ice cream.

Situated among an unassuming row of shops on Jalan Besar is Khiri, a vibrant new restaurant specialising in Northern Thai cuisine. The location might make you feel like you’re going on a mystery date with bae, but once inside, the smells and atmosphere will transport you to Chiang Mai itself.

The great thing about this restaurant is, if you or your date can’t decide on what to order, just go for the eight-course tasting menu priced at $148++ per person. With multiple courses, you’ll get to indulge in dishes like Lemongrass Chicken & Prawn Cake, Hokkaido White Corn Soup with Hand Dived Scallops, Dry Aged Barramundi, and Grilled Iberico Pork – Esaan style.

10. SanSara

Source, image courtesy of Sansara

After undergoing a massive refurbishment, the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore has brought Awadhi cuisine to the Lion City with the opening of SanSara. Although similar to North Indian Mughlai flavours, Awadhi cooking techniques differ with its style of preparation.

Called dum-style, the dishes are mostly slow-cooked using a deep bottomed pan, and covered with a layer of kneaded flour that traps in moisture, resulting in extra tender meats and morsels. Awadhi cooking dates back 5,000 years ago, so expect to feel like royalty when dining on these recipes that have been passed down through generations.

For a truly exquisite experience, try their Signature Lamb Curry ($36) with a distinct blend of spices, the Awadhi Gosht Biryani ($38) with rich saffron and tender lamb or the Sailana Jheenga ($32), which are juicy prawns cooked in creamy coconut and yoghurt gravy.

Address: 392 Havelock Road, Singapore 169663
