Sanrio-themed carnival at Changi Airport

Calling all Sanrio fans! As part of Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary, Changi Airport is hosting a bunch of Sanrio-related activities, like meet and greets with mascots , decorations, and, did someone say a carnival?

That’s right. The Sanrio Carnival, located in the public area of Terminal 3, is happening from now to 16 February 2025. The carnival is an absolute dream for all longtime Sanrio fans, with different zones catered to popular Sanrio characters such as Cinamoroll and Pompompurin.

If this sounds like something that’s right up your alley, here are the things you can do at the carnival.

While there are traditional carnival rides such as bumper cars or carousels, the Sanrio Carnival is home to some of the most unique rides in Singapore, with a fun twist. If you’ve never been able to get the hype about traditional claw machines, you can try out the first-ever train claw machine in Singapore instead, where you can ride around a moving train while trying to catch gachapon balls with adorable prizes inside. However, if you still love regular claw machines, there are also a plethora of traditional claw machines where you can win plushies of your favourite Sanrio characters.

Do take note though, that some rides are only suitable for children up to 9 years old, but there are still many other things to enjoy at the carnival.

If rides aren’t really your thing, there are loads of other fun things to do—from playing games such as the “Cinamoroll Ring Toss” to making your very own souvenirs. There’s even exclusive Sanrio merch to be won when you conquer the games, so if you think you have all the Sanrio merch in the world, think again.

After the end of your day at the carnival, you can capture the memory with a photo booth that has exclusive photo strip designs featuring the Sanrio characters. Each adorable print costs $8, and it’s definitely a must-have souvenir.

How to get carnival credits

Unfortunately, good things don’t come for free. To enjoy the activities at the carnival, you’ll need to purchase carnival tokens, which can be done on-site or on Playpass (in carnival credits). If you do purchase carnival credits, they can also be converted into tokens at the carnival itself, where 1 credit = 1 token. The rates for carnival tokens are available here.

If you want more tokens, you can spend $50at any of the participating retail and F&B outlets in a single receipt to get 5 tokens for free! Spend  $80 at the supermarket or Jewel to reap the same benefits. For MasterCard and Changi Pay users, you can get 5 more tokens for free.
