Sanrio x Steve Aoki’s Anime-Inspired Collection Features Hello Kitty & Friends With Sparkly Eyes For ’90s Kids

Sanrio x Steve Aoki

We all know that Sanrio originated from Japan, which is also home to a vast majority of manga and anime. For its latest collaboration, Sanrio has teamed up with Dim Mak, a fashion brand founded by DJ Steve Aoki, on an anime-inspired collection.

According to a statement from the brands, while growing up, “Steve sought to learn more about his Japanese culture through anime and manga”. As the inspiration behind this collection, the clothes depict Hello Kitty and friends with sparkly anime eyes.

Hoodies

The collection includes hoodies like the Rainbow Hoodie, which comes in lavender and black. Popular characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody and Pompompurin seen on the Sanrio ice cream cups appear on the hoodie, along with friends like Keroppi and Badtz-Maru.

If you are a fan of anime from the ’90s like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, you’ll notice that the characters have eyes similar to your favourite characters. The bright sparkly eyes match the kawaii look the Sanrio characters already have, making them look extra cute.

T-shirts

For apparel that can be worn any time of the year here in Singapore, there are also graphic tees available. There is an orange and black tie-dye tee featuring Hello Kitty in the middle. You’ll also be able to find the same rainbow pattern in t-shirt form in the same colours.

If you have a favourite Sanrio character, there are tees with them individually on a shirt that corresponds to their representative colours. You can find My Melody on a bright pink shirt and Keroppi decorates a lime green t-shirt.

For days that are more chilly, these long-sleeve shirts will keep you warm and still looking cute. One of the designs sees Hello Kitty and friends surrounding a giant birthday cake with a rainbow and pink mountains in the background. This is available in both black and pink.
