Starbucks Just Launched A CNY Collection With Red, Gold, Floral & Ox Details Including A Chio Teapot Set

Starbucks Chinese New Year

Starbucks never disappoints with its creative designs during the different festive seasons. And, its Chinese New Year collection for 2021 is no different. This year, we’ll be celebrating the Year of the Ox, which is one of the main themes of this series.

The Starbucks Chinese New Year 2021 collection includes mugs and tumblers, as well as knick-knacks like coin banks to store your ang bao money.

Year of the Ox

To usher in the lunar new year, Starbucks has come up with a red, black, white and gold collection with ox and floral designs.

Tea is an important part of Chinese culture, so it makes sense that a teapot set is included in this line-up. The Ox Teapot and Mug Set has a mug that can be detached from the bottom of the teapot to make your tea drinking experience a breeze.

The pot is decorated with an illustration of an ox. The animal is accompanied by flowers like chrysanthemums and orchids, which make up 2 of the 4 Nobles. The “Nobles” are flowers that represent each season in a year. Chrysanthemums symbolise autumn while orchids symbolise summer. Since these flowers are not limited to Chinese New Year, you can use the set throughout the year.

The Ox Teapot and Mug Set is retailing for $62.90.

Mugs

If you prefer making tea in your own mug, there is an ox mug that is accompanied by red chrysanthemums. The flowers represent love and a long life, which makes them appropriate for the season.

Like the cat mugs in the Starbucks Christmas 2020 collection, the ox mug’s handle is made to resemble a tail that adds an extra dimension to the cup.

For coffee lovers, there is the Zodiac Ox Mug, which comes in 2 sizes, 3oz and 12oz. The 3oz glass, $18.90, is perfect for an espresso shot to start your morning while the 12oz mug, $24.90, is able to hold a full cup of joe.

Instead of the tail being the highlight of the mug, the 12oz Zodiac Ox Mug has an ox head sticking out along with its 2 front feet. While the 3oz cup does not have the same extra layer, there is still a tip protruding from the side of the mug to fit its horn.

Tumblers & bottles

From left: 16oz: $45.90, 20oz: $39.90, 25oz: $32.90

In true Starbucks fashion, this collection includes tumblers and bottles. Nothing says Chinese New Year more than the colour red, which is why there are 3 designs that feature the auspicious colour.

The orchids and chrysanthemums appear again on the bottles. This time, they are joined by stalks of plum blossoms in this line. Plum blossoms represent spring and are often seen on sale during the Chinese New Year period. Now, you can carry the flower with you when you go visiting this February in the form of a bottle or tumbler.

You might have heard that black is an unlucky colour and that you shouldn’t wear it on Chinese New Year. But these black bottles are timeless and can be used all year round. The sleek design and dark colour suit those who do not want to draw attention to themselves but still fancy the floral designs.

Coin bank

Chinese New Year rolling around means the time to collect ang baos is also here. The Ox Coin Bank lets you store your new money safely for whenever you need it. Before any money makes it into the coin bank, you’ll first have to fork out $38.90 to obtain it.

Starbucks Celebrates Chinese New Year 2021 With An Ox-Themed Collection

After all that’s happened in 2020, we all might need some extra luck this year. All the red details and floral designs in this collection may just help us with that. You’ll be able to find the full collection in physical outlets as well as selected items on Starbucks’ official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
