Confession: I’ve always had hair and scalp issues. While born with naturally thick hair, hitting my mid-20s meant that hair loss issues came knocking at my door, joining the cursed party with the oily scalp and dandruff struggles I’ve dealt with my whole life. The combination of greasy hair and an itchy, often flaky scalp is both uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially at my age.
Living in Singapore’s humid climate has also done me little favours—the humidity makes my scalp feel even oilier, which only seems to worsen the dandruff, itchiness, and sensitivity I deal with daily. I’ve spent most of my adult life trying to find the right shampoo and home remedy to manage these issues, but it’s been a frustrating cycle of trial and error.
At my wit’s end, I decided to look into professional scalp treatments in Singapore, leaving my woes to the pros. I booked an appointment to try out TK TrichoKare’s Award-Winning Scalp Purifying Therapy, as I’ve heard rave reviews about their customised scalp treatments.
One major draw was the fact that TrichoKare firmly believes there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to scalp treatments. Instead, a thorough consultation and scalp analysis takes place before you’re recommended the next steps.
The cherry on top? You get to enjoy this customised Scalp Purifying Therapy treatment for just $48 nett, including a complimentary shampoo and conditioner set that you get to take home at the end. The total treatment package would usually set you back a whopping $556. 90% off is music to my ears, honestly.
Since most retail shampoo and scalp solutions have set me back way more than that price, I signed up for a sesh at TrichoKare, pronto.
My session kicked off with a consultation with one of TrichoKare’s expert consultants. She asked me in-depth questions about my scalp and hair history and other queries about my lifestyle. Stress, hormones, and diet have a huge impact on one’s hair and scalp health, so it was important for my consultant to get a full picture.
Next, a Pre-Treatment Hair and Scalp Scan Analysis. There are few things more humbling than seeing your scalp blown up to 200x magnification on a screen, but it was also an educational experience for me.
During the scan, the consultant pointed out some key things to note. TL;DR: my scalp is very sensitive, with pores that get clogged very easily, hence the build-up of dried skin and oil. She deduced that all my hair and scalp problems were actually because I had untreated seborrheic dermatitis, a common skin condition causing red, scaly, and itchy patches on oily areas, like the scalp.
The concept of seborrheic dermatitis was entirely new to me—let’s be real, I still can’t pronounce it—and very eye-opening. She explained that my stubborn dandruff, itchiness, and oily scalp were all a result of my dermatitis going untreated. If left untreated, it can also lead to severe hair loss.
Armed with this revelation, the consultant mapped out a Scalp Purifying Therapy session to best suit my needs. I would undergo a detoxifying hair masque, have an essence massaged into my scalp for repair and hydration, and then finish with an infrared light treatment.
The consultant also assured me that having seborrheic dermatitis is not the end of the world. In fact, by using the right shampoo, making certain adjustments to my lifestyle, and continuing scalp treatments, my dermatitis would be fairly easily minimised and managed.
TrichoKare prides itself on using premium European herbs across its spate of treatments and retail products. The treatment continued with a Customised European Herbal Scalp Masque, crafted with herbs best tailored to eliminate the excess sebum and clogged pores on my scalp.
To ensure all the herbal goodness is absorbed by my scalp, I was treated to an 8-step Aromatherapy Head and Shoulders Massage. At this point, barely midway through my treatment, I was relishing how value-for-money the session was. A head and shoulders massage and masque and more for $48? It’s hard to find a price point that compares.
The massage is followed by TrichoKare’s best-selling Nourishing Hair Bath shampoo. The shampoo is formulated with almond oil and probiotics, designed to balance your scalp’s pH levels and deeply moisturise. Like your skin, your scalp has a pH level that has to be balanced to ensure it is healthy. FYI: many lifestyle factors can throw off your scalp pH levels, resulting in dry and brittle hair, as well as a whole slew of scalp woes.
The treatment then continued with a Customised Essence, designed to help hydrate the scalp, repair your hair follicles, reduce inflammation, and strengthen hair growth. The essence was delivered via a NanoMist Spray for efficient absorption. I was treated to a heated shoulder pad and more massages during.
To close off my TrichoKare experience, my scalp was treated with infrared light technology. During my consultation, the consultant shared that infrared light is extremely helpful when it comes to hair and scalp therapies. Some key benefits include promoting blood circulation for improved scalp and hair health, reducing inflammation, and soothing my seborrheic dermatitis.
They’ve developed a Hair Bang helmet that you wear during the session. The helmet is non-invasive and painless, administering infrared light to detox and balance your scalp.
L: Before, R: After
After the treatment, which took around 2.5 hours, I was given a Post-Treatment Scalp Scan Analysis where I could see a clear difference. Instead of flakes and clogged follicles, my scalp looked clear. My hair and scalp felt rejuvenated—much fresher and lighter too.
You’re also given a free Hair Care Kit to round off the session. The kit comes with bottles of their Nourishing Bath, a shampoo, and the CompleteKare Mask, a conditioner. All in all, the treatment would’ve set me back $556, if not for the promotional price.
Honestly, I’ve always been a skeptic about scalp treatments, but TrichoKare made a believer out of me. It’s hard to deny the fact that their treatment worked when you get to see the before and after so close up, and tangibly feel the difference. As mentioned, my scalp felt the cleanest it has been in years—refreshed, soothed, with zero itch or discomfort.
If you’ve run the full gauntlet of scalp and hair woes as I have, give TrichoKare a shot. Beyond deep treatment, you’ll also learn the root of your issues, arming you with the knowledge on how to take better care of your hair and scalp in the future.
Enjoy their Scalp Purifying Therapy at $48 nett, with a free shampoo and conditioner set, usually priced at $556. Book via the signup link below or WhatsApp 9150 8891 with the promo code ‘ZULA’ to bag this massive discount.
