It’s no secret that COVID-19 has ruined even the best-laid plans in 2020. While we may still not be able to travel freely any time soon, it looks like we can still go bar-hopping this holiday season. Organised by The Whisky Store, the Whisky Journey is a 10-day whisky trail that will take you to 15 different bars and restaurants to taste whiskies from international brands. It will take place from 11 to 20 December 2020.
An around-the-world whisky tour will set you back just $32 per pax for Early Ticket passes and $45 for passes at the door. Pass holders will be entitled to a free Glencairn whisky glass, a Whisky Journey passport, a free 10ml tasting dram at each participating bar and restaurant and access to exclusive whisky deals.

Cable Car 1890’s Saloon, one of the participating bars
Originally intended to take place in May 2020, the event had to be postponed due to the Circuit Breaker. So if you were looking for a way to celebrate surviving through this year, this is your chance to go out for a drink with up to 4 of your friends.
Each participating venue is pairing up with a whisky distillery overseas. The distilleries range from family-owned boutique distilleries to renowned international brands. The restaurants and bar staff are also trained to share tasting insights and experiences so you can learn more about your drink. That is if you don’t get too drunk first, of course.
There are 15 bars and restaurants to visit on your own whisky adventure. The list includes popular bars like Wala Wala Café Bar, S L A T E., and The Other Roof. So even if you are an Eastie or Westie, your clique can still pop by 1 of the venues for a unique experience.
Wala Wala Café Bar
Wala Wala Café Bar is pairing up with Tomatin to bring you 10 different options of whisky. Known for its single malt Scotch whisky, Tomatin’s distillery is located in Scotland so you know it is authentic Scotch whisky. Choose between a Tomatin Whisky Journey or even a 10ml dram of its 36-year-old Bourbon & Oloroso Sherry Butt.
The Other Roof
Located at Ann Siang Road, The Other Roof is one of Singapore’s most popular rooftop bars. It will be partnering with Paul John, a brand of Indian single malt whisky and single cask whisky. If you are visiting the bar, do also check out its famous $1.50 oyster deal on Saturdays to Mondays.
S L A T E.
S L A T E. has been paired with Bunnahabhain to offer 6 options of single malt scotch whisky including its Bunnahabhain Stuireadair and Bunnahabhain 25-year-old. The restaurant, located in the Bugis area, also offers mains like Pork Burgers and Smoked Fish Baked Rice so you won’t have to drink on an empty stomach. Bunnahabhain has a selection of smooth whiskeys that are easy to drink for those who are new to the beverage. They also work for those who are not fans of the drink’s smokey flavour.

Apart from the 3 brands mentioned above, you will also get to try whisky from Glencadam and Loch Lomond. Certain bars will also have interesting pairings and light snacks to go with your drinks. Think: Valrhona Dark Chocolates at Malts, or Smoked Cantabrico Anchovies served with salted caramel butter on charcoal brioche at FOC.
The full list of bars and restaurants you can visit is available on the Whisky Journey’s official website, where you can also buy your passes for the event. Cheers!
