From Disney Princess cookware to UNIQLO’s UTGP Disney collection, Disney doesn’t seem to be slowing down on having collaborations with various brands to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Now, they have partnered with Adidas to release sneakers that feature Mickey and Minnie, for fans to celebrate their everlasting love.
Sneakerheads would be familiar with Adidas Samba ‒ Adidas’ oldest surviving model which has reached cult status as seen on popular celebrities like Blackpink’s Jennie. This time around, the shoe brand is dropping Mickey & Minnie-themed Samba sneakers, which are made from all-white vegan leather.
The Mickey Mouse Samba greets us with a clean and simple design that features Adidas’ iconic three stripes also in white. Above the stripes read “Samba” in gold, which pays tribute to the brand’s classic model.
Turn the sneaker around, and you’ll find a motif of Mickey Mouse’s gloved hand that forms half of a heart shape near the heel. Since the sneaker comes in a pair, having both motifs “completes” the heart when worn.
Before you get disappointed by the lack of Mickey Mouse designs, rest assured that the sneaker features him standing with his arms behind his back on the tongue. Chances are, the subtle Mickey Mouse reference might tickle the fancy of minimalists.
The Minnie Mouse Samba steps away from being a monochromatic design thanks to hints of red as seen on Adidas’ classic stripes. Plus, it also retains the gold “Samba” lettering.
As expected, you can find a motif of Minnie Mouse’s gloved hand that forms a half heart on the heel. But unlike the aforementioned design, this one is accented by her signature polka-dotted bows.
Instead of a Minnie Mouse motif on the tongue, a red Adidas logo takes its place.
Each pair of sneakers retails at USD$100 (~S$133.40),
White sneakers are wardrobe staples, so if you’re considering getting a pair, KIV the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Samba. Since both sneakers are also perfect for you and bae to pull off a sweet couple look, make sure to get them once they are available for purchase from 27 April 2023 on Adidas’ official website.
