Buy A Tree Campaign
It’s fun to go on shopping sprees and buy new clothes every now and then, but it’s not every day that you get to buy a tree. Yes, we’re talking about an actual tree here. Target15, an initiative in Singapore that focuses on land conservation, now has a campaign where you can purchase your own tree, with proceeds going to a variety of charities and animal shelters.
The campaign
The campaign, known as the “Wild We Save” programme, was launched on 16 April 2023 at Kent Ridge Secondary School. Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How joined a group of volunteers to plant 154 trees in the school’s inner courtyard.
Fun fact: there were 36 species in total, some of which also included NParks’ list of near-extinct or critically endangered species.
For those wondering why Kent Ridge Secondary School in particular, it’s also because the school has had many native wildlife sightings on their premises.
Cesar Milan, a world renowned dog behaviourist and environmental activist, was also present at the event, sharing that it’s important to respect the plants and trees that support our environment for the next generation.
If you’d like to contribute by getting a tree yourself, you can now buy a tree for only $188 on Target15’s website. Proceeds will be distributed to five charities: Children’s Wishing Well, Yellow Ribbon, Woodbridge Hospital Charity Fund, Limitless and Pertapis, as well as to various animal shelters in Singapore.
You Can Now Buy A Tree & Create A Mini Forest To Support The Environment
As of today, a total of 176 trees have been planted to kickstart the “Wild We Save” programme, which will continue on for the next six months. So if you’re looking for more ways to support the environment, remember that trees are also an important part of human health and quality of life.
