Clare Waight Keller is the new creative director at UNIQLO

Move along quiet luxury—we are all about brands that let us look luxurious without breaking the bank. UNIQLO’s designer collabs have always been it for us, but the brand is about to serve luxe-casual silhouettes year-round now, after announcing Clare Waight Keller as their new creative director.

Clare’s pedigree includes stints at Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Gucci. Most recently, she was the artistic director for Chloé, then moved on to helm Givenchy in 2017. FYI: if you’ve ever lusted over the formerly trendy Chloé Tess crossbody bag, you have her to thank. She’s also the designer for Meghan Markle’s royal wedding dress.

The British designer is not new to UNIQLO; she has been in charge of her affordable womenswear sub-brand, UNIQLO : C, which, coincidentally, sees its Fall/Winter 2024 collection launch today in Singapore.

In her new expanded role, Clare will be helming all of UNIQLO’s divisions and promises to refresh the brand, especially for younger shoppers.

Her first collection, potentially launching later this year, will include softer tailored silhouettes for menswear, new colour palettes for the brand, and even a line of footwear. Expect to also see her influence on the brand’s LifeWear range.

Currently, you can shop her UNIQLO : C line-up on the webstore. We’re huge fans of her unisex silhouettes, with baggy, tailored fits in neutral hues that fit right in with current trends, but also look classic enough to make you look good for a long time.

The range also includes two new bags: a Mini Shoulder Bag ($29.90) that’s great for off days, and a 2Way Utility Bag ($49.90) with generous pockets that looks to be a top-tier affordable work bag.
