The event
Here’s how the dating event works — ladies will be required to pick up mandarin oranges and write their details on them. It could be anything they’re comfortable with sharing, such as their Instagram handle or phone number.
Once done, it’s time to put your baseball skills to the test. Head over to the sea and aim for the red boxes floating above the water to toss the oranges in.
Not to worry if you didn’t bring your own oranges. According to Instagram user @zhishinn, interested participants can purchase oranges on the spot for RM$1 each. As it’s not easy to score into the red boxes upon the first try, participants are also welcomed to purchase as many oranges as they like.
Marker pens are available on the spot for ladies to pen down their details on the fruit.
Where do these oranges go? After they’ve been collected in the box, they will be placed in a fountain, where guys will be given catching nets to “fish” the oranges out randomly. From there, they can choose to contact the ladies based on the information written on the oranges.
For those whose oranges didn’t make it into the red box, not all hope is lost. Multiple boats will be stationed in the sea to catch the leftover oranges, and the staff will help to throw them to any male participants they see.
Or if you prefer to increase your chances with minimal effort, you can also place the oranges into the boxes provided. Each box indicates your gender and preferred dating gender, so you can guarantee a higher chance of getting a match.

The best part about this orange tossing dating event is that all the participants will be gathered in one spot. So no matter if you’re tossing an orange into the sea or not, you’re pretty much surrounded by singles who are obviously ready to mingle.
