Google Japan Has A 1.65m Horizontal Keyboard, Group Projects Can Now Be More Cooperative

Google Japan Horizontal Keyboard

It is not an exaggeration to say that the Japanese come up with some of the quirkiest innovations in the world. From a wearable 2-in-1 raincoat and umbrella to a white anti-stain T-shirt, there’s rarely anything that shocks us anymore.

Now, there is even a horizontal keyboard that measures 1.65m in length made by Google Japan that would make you go “nani?!”. Practical or a meme? You decide.

The keyboard

Known as G-Board, the keyboard has letters and special characters aligned in a horizontal plane from left to right that is put together by 17 boards. This means that rather than seeing the usual keyboard that comes with 6 rows, the G-Board allows you to type with the keys designed in a single row.

According to the designers of G-Board, the first prototype came out with a length of 2.4m but they managed to shorten it further to 1.65m. Slay.

While the G-Board seems a lil’ sus, it is actually practical in many ways.

First of all, you only need a stroke of a brush to clean the keyboard. This means bidding farewell to spending a lot of time and effort sweeping away dust trapped under the keycaps.

Work might even be completed faster when you use the G-Board with a fellow colleague to speed up efficiency. However, we do recommend getting a desk that is longer than the G-board for ultimate comfort.

The 1.65 plane even lets you work on your balance when you use it as a balancing pole like a tightrope walker.

If that’s not enough, the G-Board also doubles as a distant light switch so you won’t have to leave your bed when you want to call it a night. Plus, it even helps to sweep objects out from under your bed.

Active folks who enjoy exploring a new hiking trail can take G-Board on their trip as it has the perfect height to use as a walking stick.

That’s not all ‒ the G-Board comes with a memory bar mode so you can even use it to track the height of your young ones.

This Creative 1.65m Keyboard By Google Japan Does More Than Just Typing

Google Japan has definitely caught the attention of tech geeks and perhaps even raised the bar of the next ‘it’ keyboard design. Unfortunately, the G-Board is not for sale but we never know if Google Japan might actually put it out in the market.
