Korea has such a strong cafe culture that, even as someone who lived in Korea for almost nine years, I’ve always looked forward to visiting those with unique concepts such as BB Haus. One of the newest themed cafes that should be on your agenda is Lucifel Butler, Korea’s first butler cafe that features handsome oppas as waiters who attend to you with just the ring of a bell.
If you’re familiar with maid cafes, the concept of butler cafes is not too far off. Think Ouran High School Host Club, a Japanese anime that revolves around a Host Club, but with Korean oppas donned in suits to serve and attend to you.
According to Lucifel Butler’s Instagram, the cafe only opened earlier in January, but it has become so popular that you’ll have to book a slot in advance to visit. FYI, as of our last check, the earliest slot available is 18 March 2024. That’s almost a full month later.
Additionally, the cafe operates on an hourly session basis with an entry fee. This means you can only patronise the cafe for an hour unless you book extra sessions to extend your stay. With that said, what’s better than making full use of your session by taking advantage of the services that they offer.
Based on a video online, it appears that the butler would kindly ask for your hand, feed you, and even wipe your mouth. While we’re not sure if these services are available to every customer, you might want to look up more on the dos and don’ts of the cafe.
Alternatively, if you require any assistance or would like to order a drink, simply ring the bell provided at your seat. A butler will come over in no time, and might even pose for a photo with you.
Since Lucifel Butler is essentially a cafe, you won’t want to miss out on trying their afternoon tea which includes menu items like croissants, macarons, and muffins. Plus, they also offer a variety of teas for you to choose from that pair well with your sweet treats.
Besides visiting popular shopping areas like Hongdae and Myeongdong, consider adding Lucifel Butler to your itinerary the next time you travel to Korea. Interested folks can make a reservation on their Naver page, and find out more information on their Instagram.
