Shiseido Lavender Ring Makeup & Photos With Smiles
When faced with an illness, it’s easy to feel demoralised — but it also doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. Commemorating its 150th anniversary milestone last year, Shiseido Group launched the Lavender Ring Makeup & Photos With Smiles in Singapore where they give back to society. To mark the occasion this year, the beauty brand worked together with the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) to give 60 cancer survivors a makeover and photoshoot.
The event
With the aim to support cancer patients and survivors in the country, the initiative was created to provide a boost of confidence and strength through the power of beauty.
Starting with around 35 cancer patients and survivors at the inaugural event last year, the Lavender Ring campaign has grown to engage 60 beneficiaries from SCS this year. The initiative also provides a safe space for them to feel cared for among a like-minded group.
It’s also an initiative for survivors to own their voices and personal stories as they raise awareness about cancer, while preserving their dignity and boosting their self esteem.
All the beneficiaries of this campaign got to experience a personalised makeup and hairstyling session hosted by certified Shiseido beauty consultants and hairstylists. In addition, each makeover used professional-grade products from Shiseido Life Quality Makeup (SLQM) that’s specially created to address serious skin concerns and improve uneven skin tones and textures, while enhancing an individual’s facial features.
Shiseido Perfect Cover line
All products used are from SLQM’s Perfect Cover line, and each participant got to relax and enjoy some well-deserved pampering. The experience was then captured in a photoshoot that the beneficiaries got to take either by themselves or with loved ones who accompanied them.
Representing the diverse network of cancer survivors and the people who support them is in the initiative’s name. The symbolic colour of lavender represents all forms of cancer, and the ring is made up of the people battling it.
The Shiseido Lavender Ring Makeover And Photoshoot Is A Reminder To Be An Inclusive Society
As someone who has personally lost family members to cancer, I understand the difficulties cancer patients go through, and the constant battle they face on their road to recovery. Seeing such a heartfelt campaign in Singapore definitely put a smile on my own face.
