Working as an SQ cabin crew can be hard, but for some Singaporeans, it is a dream to explore the world while earning an income. Plus for us girlies, who wouldn’t want to don the iconic batik kebaya?
If you’ve ever thought of applying, Lemon8 users and cabin crew themselves, Dion and Amber, share their handy tips on how you can ace the SQ interview.
First impressions are very important, especially when it comes to providing service to passengers. Amber advises interviewees not to slouch and avoid fidgeting during the interview although the process can be stressful.
The SQ stewardess mentioned that maintaining a smile and a good posture helps ― like they say, fake it until you make it.
NGL, group interviews are extra nerve-wracking since all eyes will be on you so it’s easy to trip over your words while communicating your points. FYI, SQ interviews have a debate round ― talk about double the stress.
With many people in a group, Dion mentions utilising the minutes that you have to allow your character to shine through. Although the questions will target your ability to think on the spot, it’s hella crucial to have concise and witty answers so you can show the interviewer your stunning personality.
Although looks aren’t everything, investing time and money into your appearance does pay off when you’re aspiring to become a SIA cabin crew member. As the interviewers will assess your skin condition, you can schedule for a facial a few days before your interview.
Also, being healthy is a must. Before being considered as a potential cabin crew, you must be fit to fly. Dion assures his followers that it’s easy to pass this round but if you do fail, it’s best for you not to try again.
Amber noted how she ultimately secured her spot as a cabin crew member when she helped a Japanese lady at the interview venue pick up an ID card that she dropped. As she glanced at the interviewer, Amber received a smile of approval.
This shows it pays to be kind but most importantly, staying authentic and true to yourself will show your potential bosses that you have what it takes to join the crew.
It’s definitely not an easy journey to become a Singapore Airlines cabin crew member but with these useful tips from the current crew, you can fasttrack your way to passing with flying colours.
