Just last week, Singapore announced that they will be extending their Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) to 9 more countries including South Korea and Spain.
For those who are still on that Squid Game hype, this Airbnb in Spain that was rumoured to have inspired the game arena is open to visit via the VTL scheme. Now you can experience what it’s like to be a player — minus all the violence and death, of course.
The most obvious feature that stands out from this Airbnb is the pink outdoor staircases. These look just like the complex staircases which the Squid Game players have to walk through to get to the next game destination.
The pink hues of the staircases further enhance the child-like setting in Squid Game, going in different directions that never seem to end. Channel your inner Gi Hun or Sang Woo and recreate this iconic scene from the show by donning a green jumpsuit while walking along the staircase.
The beautiful sea view that surrounds this Airbnb makes it seem like you’re on a deserted island — another feature that reminds us of the show. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, snap some pictures of this chio building without having to worry about the Front Man chasing you.
Thankfully, there are no circle, square or triangle masked soldiers waiting for us on the inside of the apartment. The Airbnb consists of 2 small bedrooms with comfy bunk beds or single sized beds.
The bunk beds once again prompts us to compare it to the common area in Squid Game, where all 456 players slept together with hundreds of beds stacked on top of each other.
The last bedroom is the master bedroom with a king bed. Filled with a vibrant colour palette of pink and orange colours, the bedsheets match the colourful aesthetics on the exterior of the building.
The spacious living room consists of minimalistic orange sofas and a dining table with cushions to enjoy your meals. It’s fully furnished with a TV, free wifi and air conditioning to relax in comfort.
An outdoor balcony is connected to the living room, providing a cosy space to bask in the sunlight while admiring the view. The ocean is located only 50 metres from the apartment, so you and your besties can enjoy a relaxing beach day just a 10-minute walk away.
Make use of this stylish kitchen to compete in the Squid Game honeycomb challenge with your friends. With simple ingredients of sugar and baking soda as well as the right tools, put the lighter or licking technique to the test of its effectiveness.
That’s not all there is to this Airbnb — on the rooftop, a cross-shaped outdoor swimming pool and roof terrace overlooks the beautiful scenery of La Muralla Roja.
After a refreshing dip in the pool, admire the sunset at the roof terrace along the pink staircases.
This insta-worthy seaview apartment is located in La Muralla Roja, Calpe in Spain, and is a great destination for Squid Game fans who are looking to escape to the seaside. With the VTL to Spain starting on 19 October 2021, Singaporeans can now book this Squid Game Airbnb for SGD$149 per night on Airbnb’s website.
