Big boob problems

Being busty is both a blessing and a curse. There are days when I love my boobs because they make me look bomb AF in bodycon dresses.

But there are also days where I wish they were smaller because they’ve split the side of my shirt again. If you’re also a little heavy on the top, you probably can relate to these big boob problems.

1. You know they attract attention

Hello guys and girls, our eyes are up here. FYI, we know what you’re looking at, we just choose to ignore it because we’re nice.

2. You hear “Real or fake one sia?!” a lot

Source

3. Your clothes automatically become sexy and sometimes offend aunties on the MRT

Source

You could be wearing the exact same shirt as someone else and your dressing would be considered inappropriate. Take buttoned shirts for example.

There’s always that one button at the chest area which goes “Open sesame” and causes you to zhao-geng like crazy when you stretch.

4. You can’t workout without sports bras

Spontaneously joining sports events at ECP is out of the question. You can’t run or exercise without feeling self-conscious and when you do, you need at least two sports bras for that extra support.

Not to mention, changing out of them immediately after your workout is necessary because they’re actually kinda suffocating you.

5. Your best friend and worst enemy will always be underwires

Underwiring in bras provide all the support you need but can stab you till you bleed. It’s a love-hate relationship you can’t afford to live without.

6. You get back and shoulder pains

Source

Why go to the gym when it’s back and shoulders day all day, every day. Not to mention, the strap marks and stretch marks hurt like a b*tch.

7. Your cleavage is your personalised storage

You can tuck your cash and cards into the most accessible, safest place ever: your bra. Perfect for a night out at Zouk.

Also, you can store snacks on-the-go because food falls in there most of the time anyway.

*Checks to see no one is looking*

Source

*Retrieves Salted Egg Yolk Chip*

8. You struggle to cross your arms

There is just no right way.

Source

9. You can’t sleep face down

While some might think it’s comfortable and squishy to sleep face down, in reality, it hurts. Imagine sleeping with two huge watermelons pressing against your chest. (Not all boobs are soft, sorz guys.)

10. You have nowhere to buy bras

The average cup size of a Singaporean woman is about A to C. So it is no wonder curvy women rarely find stores which carry our size. Even Taobao usually carry sizes ranging from A to B.

If we do find a well-fitted piece, it’s always expensive AF. I get envious when I see my friends shopping at Far East Plaza and buying bikinis for half the price of what I pay for one.

Don’t even get me started on how hard it is to buy sports bras.

11. Your sling-bags and seat belts = floss for your boobs

Source

Super awkward, especially when you’re riding shotgun in a Taxi/Grab. You also need to worry about them boobs going mad when the car drives over a hump.

12. You don’t understand push up bras in your cup size

Source

13. Your reach is limited

You think you can grab the utensils across the table while sitting comfortably in your chair but, nope. Guess who’s doing the Stand-and-Reach.

Shaving your legs is also a struggle. If struggling to breathe while bent over isn’t hard enough, you now have shaving cream all over your chest.

14. You can never wear strapless clothing

Most people underestimate the power of bra straps. Strapless bras can’t keep the sisters together as they often drop and lowkey become belts.

15. You need everything oversized

The rest of you is a size M but you’re gonna need to get a shirt in L or XL ‘cause boobs. Thank God oversized clothing is on trend now.

16. Your boobs always get hit by accident

Fun fact: A friend once kicked off my boobs unintentionally while swimming. Ouch.

17. You can’t wear high-collars cause they give you a uni-boob

Source

18. You get underboob sweat a lot

Everyone gets it, even people who have regular sized boobs. But for us, it’s so much worse in Singapore’s humid weather. A moment of silence for all the soaked shirts and tank tops.

19. You can’t wear long necklaces

They always annoy you by either falling in and getting uncomfortably stuck between your cleavage or repeatedly bounce off your twin peaks when you walk.

20. You use them as furniture

Source

Sometimes in bed, you use them as a table for your laptop. Other times, you use your boobs as stoppers and prevent things from rolling off tables.

21. You have to hug people sideways

Side hugs are better because when you hug someone your boobs either end up awkwardly squished or all up in the person’s face. God forbid you hug someone taller who’s equally busty. #boobfest

22. You get the quadruple boob syndrome

Source

23. You worry about your boobs swelling when you have children

‘Cause how much bigger are they gonna get?! Yikes.

24. You have an irrational fear of premature boob sagging

That satisfying feeling of finally taking off the boob cage after a long day at the office, only to sink into a state of mild panic as you stare at yourself in the mirror wondering if they look any lower than yesterday.

25. You get asked if you’ll get breast reduction

Source

Just, no.

Love Your Curves

At the end of the day, we all have different body types and compositions so embrace the big boobs you’ve been given!

How To Get A Girl’s Number

In Singapore, I’ve noticed that guys tend to be a little shy when it comes to dating and asking for a girl’s number. Sometimes, it’s because they’re too paiseh, other times it’s because they’re afraid of getting rejected.

But a quick chat with my guy friends revealed the main reason why they let the pretty girl they’ve spotted walk away is because they’re unsure of how to get her number.

To help a brother out, I’ve asked these 7 Singaporean girls what would make them want to give a guy their number, and how guys can increase their chances of scoring a first date.

1. Just ask for a simple favour

I’d usually give my number to guys who make me feel like we could be friends. If he starts the conversation with a “Hey, I think you’re cute”, I’d become more wary of his intentions, and assume he only likes me for how I look.

What guys can do is ask for a simple favour instead. For example, if I’m in the supermarket, walk up and politely ask, “Hey, may I know which aisle you got that item from? I can’t seem to find it.”

If I show him the way, it’ll give us a few seconds of comfortable silence, and sets up a less intimidating scenario. Also, I’d feel positive about helping him, which might affect my feelings towards him.

From there, he could ask me for my name, after he thanks me for showing him where to get the item, and whether I live in the same neighbourhood. If he seems respectful, I’d give him my number, as I’d trust him not to spam call me.

Note: Asking “Do you live around here?” is less creepy than asking “Where do you stay?”
Chev, 25

2. Don’t come off as an F-boy

He has to strike up a conversation in a non-creepy way, like asking how to get to somewhere or what time it is. The best thing he can do is to not come off as an F-boy.

If he shows that he genuinely wants to get to know me, and engages me in a good conversation, I’d definitely be more inclined to give him my number when he asks for it.
Klaire, 20

3. Be polite and a little shy

Once, I was waiting for my Grab outside a restaurant, and three guys came around the corner, commenting on how good the place looked.

One of them made eye contact with me, so I replied I just had dinner there and the food was quite good. They struck up a brief conversation before leaving.

Less than a minute later, two of them came back and told me they were helping their friend (the one who made eye contact) ask for my number.

At that point, I noticed said guy hiding behind a nearby pillar, so I smiled at him. He walked over and shook my hand before asking me for my number.

I ended up giving him my number because I felt he was polite, and the fact that he was shy showed he didn’t just willy-nilly ask for a girl’s number. Until today, we’re still texting, and it’s going great.
Lyn, 24

4. Have a sense of humor

Depends on how I’m asked. Most of the guys I message are from dating apps, and we usually make a bit of conversation before they’d ask, “Hey, wanna move this convo to Telegram or Whatsapp?”

I’d then decide whether or not to give them my number by scrolling through our message history. If we have common interests, a shared sense of humor and chemistry, I’d give him eight correct digits!

5. Be a friend first

To me, I’m all about making friends, so I don’t mind giving out my number. The person who asked could be a fun hangout buddy or a potential boyfriend.

Getting to know someone as a friend first is really important as you can’t build a relationship with just physical attraction.

He should make me feel like he cares about my person, and actively finds common topics or interests.

If he’s good-looking but has a bad attitude, is narcissistic or stuck up then nahh. Pass.
Joanne, 22

6. Pay attention to the initial texting phase

I find intelligence super sexy. As I meet most of the dates through Tinder, the initial texting phase is super important. It’s through his words that I gauge how intelligent my prospective date is.

If he can demonstrate wit and humour through text, it’s a good indicator he can hold a conversation and we have chemistry. It also helps if he knows his memes.

Replying messages within 12 hours, having good grammar, and not making racist/homophobic/sexist jokes should be a given too (and if you think it’s okay to do so, please check yourself).
Shanice, 24

7. Be straightforward

Most guys beat around the bush before asking for a girl’s number. While I get they’re nervous, it’s unnecessary and awkward.

If they’re straightforward and say they want my number because they’re interested in taking me out, I’d appreciate their honesty and be more likely to say yes.

Bring it up casually in conversation. If we’re talking about similar interests or an upcoming movie we’d both like to watch, say something like, “If you don’t mind, let’s go watch that movie together”.

I know it’s not easy and I applaud the bravery of guys who make the first move and ask girls out.
Clover, 25

Just Ask For Her Number

There’s a saying, “Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage.” The next time you see a girl you’d like to know better, take a deep breath and keep these tips in mind before asking for her number.

After all, if you never try, you’ll never know.

Finding The Right Engagement Ring

So you’ve finally found The One and you’re ready to put a ring on her finger. After planning what to say and where to propose, the only thing missing is the right ring.

But not any ring will do. This is a piece of jewellery she’s going to wear for a while, and you want it to be representative of your one-of-a-kind love for her.

Instead of picking a glittering band off the display rack, opt for a fully customisable ring made to your future wifey’s liking at one of these jewellery stores in Singapore.

1. The Canary Diamond

Valentine’s Day Gifts

Figuring out what to get your other half for Valentine’s Day can be as nerve-wracking as picking a flavour from Koi or Gongcha. We’ve been there, done that.

And even though wallets and watches seem like a great idea, you might wish to turn it up this year and make Valentine’s Day extra memorable with these so-Singaporean gifts.

1. ‘Yum Seng’ Bottle Opener

Source

A bottle opener would come in handy when your boyfriend is popping bottles with his bros. And wait, is that a Yum Seng we see? Cute. Like his girlfriend who bought it.

2. Dumbbells with Tiger beer

Source

For the boyfriend with too much testosterone, take it further with his next love—beer. For added extraness, add Tiger beer inside to channel the true Singaporean spirit.

3. Void Deck Chess Ashtray

Source

If he loves to chill at HDB blocks, bring the void deck to him. He can snub out his cigarettes without leaving the comfort of his own home.

4. Singlish Keychains

Things Only K-pop Fans Can Relate To

Ever since the Korean wave hit Singapore’s shores in the early 2000s, K-fans seem to be ever increasing.

With past acts like Big Bang and SHINee performing at the Indoor Stadium, as well as the upcoming Super Junior concert in Singapore, local K-fans are beside themselves with excitement.

Whether you’re a new fan who has just jumped onto the K-pop bandwagon, or someone who has been in the fandom since the beginning, you’ll be able to identify with these 17 experiences that come naturally with being a K-pop fan.

Getting judged by friends when you choose Korean songs at Teo Heng

You’re familiar with the groan of annoyance some of your friends let out when you mumble in broken Korean. And proceed to shout out the few English lyrics with much enthusiasm.

They’d ask “Why do you listen to something you don’t understand?” But really, what’s their problem with Korean songs, when they’re fine with Despacito?

Staying up late to watch everything

All you wanted to do was know was their names, but now it’s 5.00am, and you’ve binge-watched 25 videos, got in on six inside jokes, and downloaded three new variety shows.

This marks the start of your descent into the fandom.

Welcome to the K-hole, we hope you enjoy your stay because you’re not crawling out of here anytime soon.

Source

Having a separate vocabulary for K-pop

For those who are unfamiliar:

Bias – Your favorite person in a band (one can have a normal bias and an ultimate bias)
Stan – Undying support for a group or an individual in a band
Year-liners/ Liners – Idols born in the same year. For example, some 94-liners would be J-Hope and RM from BTS, Wendy from Red Velvet as well as Jackson and JB from GOT7.
Fighting/Hwaiting: A word of encouragement. Similar to jiayou / good luck
Ageyo – Acting cute

Heck, you’ll probably need a whole dictionary to be able to understand everything.

Source

Going to concerts and wanting your bias to notice you

You’ll wave banners around and throw towels on stage just to get their attention, and if they make eye contact or happen to pick up your towel, you’ll take 500 photos of that one exact moment to keep forever.

Buying fansite merch outside the indoor stadium

Whether you’re attending a concert or casually sleeping outside the concert hall because you’re too broke to afford tickets (aka me), you can’t miss the amount of fansite merchandise being sold outside the venue.

Because of your FOMO, you might even buy a band T-shirt, or a plastic fan with your bias’ face printed on it, just to prove to your fellow fans you were there too.

Constantly waiting for English Subtitles

Ahhh, the pain of not understanding what your bias is laughing at when watching the latest episode of a Korean drama or reality show.

Unfortunately, it’ll take a while before fansites translate what they’re saying. So you’ll bookmark the video link and check back every day for subtitle updates.

In the meantime, you’re probably going to have to figure out what’s going on via contextual clues and body language. Great.

Source

Filling your YouTube history with trash

Almost 80% of your YouTube watch history is filled with ridiculous videos like “BTS Jin yelling for 7 minutes” or “30 minutes of SHINee saying dumb stuff and making weird noises”.

It’s gotten to the point where it’s a little embarrassing to let any of your non-K-pop friends use your Youtube account.

Wishing K-pop was an O-Level subject

Because you know you would pay attention to everything and ace all the quizzes and exams.

Source

Spazzing when you hear your K-pop songs at Bugis street

Source

Filming your own MVs on every bus and MRT ride

You have your earphones plugged in with a Korean ballad blasting through them. Slowly, you lean against the window. Suddenly everything is in monochrome and you’re brought back to the time you had your first crush.

Getting a lot of triggering questions

“This one boy or girl sia?”
“All plastic one la?”
“You cannot read Korean meh? You like K-pop right?”

Source

Running out of phone memory space ‘cause of your K-pop folder

You have your favorite idols set as phone and desktop wallpapers. And because you can’t decide which of the thirty photos to use, your phone constantly reminds you it’s running out of storage.

Having multiple ‘boyfriends’

Because all biases are your ‘boyfriends’ now. And you don’t pick your biases, your biases pick you. Don’t even get me started on your bias wreckers…

Source

Waiting for MV releases

Thank goodness Singapore is only one hour behind Korea. Waiting for the release of most music videos won’t require you to stay up late or wake up at ungodly hours! *silent cheers*

Watching the same MV multiple times for each member

Because you were supposed to watch it for your bias but your eyes just kept following the other members around and now you have to rewatch it again till you know you got them all covered.

God bless all of you who stan SEVENTEEN.

Dragging an unsuspecting victim into the K-pop fandom

The feeling of satisfaction when your friend finally caves and starts sending you K-pop memes. Boomshakalaka baby~

Posting Korean captions on Instagram

Most of the time, these lyrics are taken from your current favorite song. But others don’t have to know that.

Let them think they’re deep inspirational words of wisdom which come from your vast knowledge of all things Korean.

“널 한입에 치즈처럼 집어넣을 테다…”
Translation: I will put you in my mouth like cheese…
#muchsense #suchdeep

For The Love of K-pop

Through K-pop, you’ve made unconventional friends by bonding over a mutual love for this genre of music. It has entertained you with memes and comforted you on tough days with the silly antics of your idols and relatable song lyrics.

Here’s to more concerts, variety shows and events in Singapore!

Being A Virgin

Yup. I’ve never had a boyfriend and I’ve never had sex. There I said it.

Growing up, I’ve had countless people probe about my non-existent sex life.

When I revealed I was keeping sex for marriage, I’d often get “Confirm some boy screw you over, that’s why you don’t want to date” as a reply.

To most, choosing to remain a virgin is a choice so rare it borders abnormal. I’ve gotten this reaction so many times I’ve started to question: Is it really that weird to be a virgin?

There’s no winning

Being in a relationship and having sex has become the new norm for social success and happiness. For both men and women, if we’re single or haven’t had sexual intercourse, we’re often labelled “prudes” or “sad losers who are #foreveralone”.

Yet, when women are more sexually active or more upfront about their sexuality, they’re called “sluts” and other derogatory names.

No matter a woman’s choice, sexual expression (or the lack thereof) can feel like a bad thing.

Bad relationships are usually complicated by sex

Personally, I choose to remain a virgin largely because I feel sex is not something to be taken lightly.

In my many years of playing Aunt Agony to the people around me, I’ve realised sex usually makes a bad romantic situation a lot worse.

I’ve had friends who remained in abusive relationships because the make-up sex was “sooo good”.

They ended up pushing serious issues to the back of their minds and clinging to a relationship long past its expiration date.

Handling sex when you’re more emotionally mature is always a good idea

It doesn’t help Singaporean Millennials as young as 12 are becoming sexually active, often before they’re mature enough to deal with the emotional fallout of sex.

Brought up on a diet of movies and chick flicks, we’re taught sex is the physical expression of love. What these movies don’t teach you is how to differentiate between casual sex and sex with a significant other.

Casual sex with an FWB (Friends with Benefits) tends to be fuelled by lust and is void of emotions, while sex with a significant other is usually motivated by love and desire.

When you have sex at a younger age, there is a higher chance of confusing the two and catching feelings for an FWB. This could emotionally wreck you if your feelings go unreciprocated.

It’s likely a 16-year-old and a 25-year-old will handle the emotional consequences of sex differently. A 25-year-old is likely to be more emotionally mature, and better equipped to understand how to discern between the two.

I’m not saying all young people aren’t emotionally mature, it’s just that some things can only be learnt through experience and time.

You Don’t Need To Have Sex To Fit In

Admittedly, I sometimes have FOMO when friends talk about their wildest sexcapades and latest hookups when we hang out.

But at the same time, it’s liberating to know that I don’t have to worry about unplanned pregnancies, STDs or F-boys.

Though I do want to fit in, there’s comfort in knowing you’re not giving in to peer pressure and having sex just for the sake of conforming.

It’s absolutely okay to feel like you’re not ready to go all the way, and it’s okay to wait till you are.

At the end of the day, sex is a deeply personal choice.

Fill the tray with water and add drops of nail polish. Use a toothpick to swirl the polish around to create the marbling effect. Slowly dip the sneakers into the water.

Repeat steps till you’re satisfied with the end product. Set aside to dry before peeling away the masking tape.
