From “trash bag” handbags to high-heeled Crocs, luxury brand Balenciaga certainly knows how to create some of the world’s wackiest fashion items. To take high fashion to the next level, Balenciaga now has black bow earrings made from actual shoelaces. Like Lizzo, now you can feel extra fabulous while walking in your Balenci-ussy earrings.
Inspired by the concept of incorporating everyday objects into jewellery collections, these shoelace bow earrings are literally made from real shoelaces. Each side comes with a matching bow that drops to as long as 18.7cm.
If you’re wondering how they can stay onto your ears, thankfully, you don’t have to actually thread the laces through your piercing. The earrings come with silver-tone metal hardware with Balenciaga’s logo engraved on them, and the post-back fastenings make them suitable for pierced ears.
Of course, the earrings also include the aglet at the end, aka the most important part of the shoelaces, according to that one Phineas and Ferb episode.
Balenciaga’s shoelace bow earrings are retailing at USD$250 (~SGD$348.54) per pair. Though if you ask me, we can probably DIY these for less than $10 at home.
This isn’t the first time Balenciaga transformed everyday items into earrings. Previously, the brand released silver safety pin earrings, once again with Balenciaga’s logo engraved on them. These earrings cost a whopping USD$350 (~SGD$487.96) per pair.
Fashion statement or just a LOL novelty? We’ll let you be the judge. More details on how you can purchase these Balenciaga shoelaces earrings can be found on Matches Fashion’s online website.
