An advocate for a classic tube of vermillion red lipstick, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel believed the fiery hue was a symbol of life and passion.
Her crimson lips were a signature that functioned like a beauty armour—one she used to look good and feel better. “If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack,” a piece of advice we heed to combat Monday blues.
This month, Chanel is taking its devotion on a bigger scale in the form of a laboratory-inspired pop-up. From 17 to 21 October 2018, Chanel’s fourth pop-up concept will be opening its doors to all beauty junkies at 72-13 Mohamed Sultan Road.
When you step into the pop-up, you’ll be greeted by the Red Factory. A giant acrylic cage centres the room, housing large industrial tanks containing lipsticks and nail polishes.
The makeup stations around the room let you swatch six shades of Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme and Rouge Allure Liquid Powder—an invitation to dress your lips in fresh matte textures.
Suspended on the conveyor belt above, bottles of Chanel’s classic No. 5 fragrance will transform into gorgeous red flacons, right before your eyes.
In another corner, you’ll find a digital wall of moving lips, which leads to a passageway doused in red. Dedicated to the red edition fragrance, the geometric lines of the Red Corridor will make you feel like you’re standing in a supersized bottle of No. 5.
Before you leave, stop by the Red Bar: A chill lounge area reminiscent of grand hotel bars, with casual seats and a long counter, for you to sip on red cocktails and take in the sights.
As with previous Chanel pop-ups, this homage to Coco Chanel’s signature shade is going to be a sensorial experience you’ll want to capture on your Instagram feed.
