Just last week, K-pop idol G-Dragon was announced as Tiger Beer’s newest global ambassador. It seems like the Big Bang leader has many more upcoming projects to surprise his fans, aka VIPs, as his self-made brand Peaceminusone recently announced their next collaboration with Nike.
Featuring a collection of new sneakers and merch inspired by Taekwondo motifs, VIPs can now level up their hypebeast OOTDs.
This isn’t the first time G-Dragon has collaborated with the sportswear brand. In 2021, G-Dragon and Nike released the first edition of the Nike Kwondo 1 — a full-white sneaker in a silhouette created by the rapper himself.
This time round, G-Dragon has given the Kwondo 1 sneakers a new monochrome look, nicknamed “Panda” by his fans. Like the previous design, it comes with the Nike and Peaceminusone logo on each side of the sneaker tongue.
On the heel tabs, the sneakers showcase the iconic Peaceminusone daisy logo in white and yellow.
Lucky for G-Dragon’s friends, they’ve received the Nike Kwondo 1 sneakers before its release date. G-Dragon’s close friend and Big Bang group member Taeyang posted a picture on his Instagram story, hinting at the possibility of an exclusive shoe box with every sneaker purchase.
That’s not all — the collaboration also features co-branded apparel with Nike, drawing inspirations from the Taekwondo uniform, aka a Dobok. While it’s not clear why G-Dragon chose Taekwondo as his inspiration, some fans have speculated that it’s a play on the word “Kwon”, derived from his real name, Kwon Ji Yong.
The wide pants in black features a minimalistic design of the Peaceminusone daisy on the front, along with a detachable pouch on the back.
The Nike Ls tee in black appears to be a simple sweatshirt at first glance, but a large motif of the Peaceminusone daisy is etched on the back.
The sweatshirt is also available in white, with both tees showcasing the Peaceminusone logo on the sleeves.
The star of the collection is undoubtedly the Nike jacket and vest in black, created to resemble a Taekwondo Dobok. The double layers are perfect for those who are planning their next vacation to colder countries, all while maintaining an edgy streetwear look.
G-Dragon’s friends have also received a custom version of the Nike jacket and vest with their names stitched on the belt — similar to actual Taekwondo players. While it’s not confirmed if buyers are able to similarly customise their jackets too, we can’t deny that it looks extra cool.
The new G-Dragon Peaceminusone x Nike collection will be available on Peaceminusone’s website from 11 April 2023 onwards. G-Dragon himself modelled in the campaign photos, leaving fans excited for more activities to come from the idol in 2023.
Stay tuned to KIIONDO’s Instagram page for more information, aka the account that was created by G-Dragon to post updates on this collaboration.
