Pastel HDB Flat

“Kawaii” and “minimalist” might not seem like 2 words that go together. A Singaporean couple, however, has turned their home into a picture-perfect blend of the 2 themes. Renopedia recently shared a project by local interior design company, Volver Design Studio. The pastel HDB flat has blush pink walls and Sanrio plush toys, contrasted against clean white furnishings and classy gold accents. The end result will please both minimalists as well as those who love all things cute.

Let’s go on a tour of the flat for some inspiration!

Living and dining areas

The main focus of the living room is the blush pink walls. Pastel blue curtains add a pop of contrast, while the rest of the furnishings are in muted neutral hues. The colours complement each other wonderfully, coming together for a cosy vibe.

Speaking of pink, blue and white hues, the super cute Cinnamoroll plush toy sitting front and centre on the couch blends in perfectly with its surroundings too.

The combination of natural light, white cupboards and clean lines makes this room seem like the perfect place to take an afternoon nap in.

The same blush pink walls, as well as white furniture and doors, extend to the dining room. Gold and rose gold accents on the lights, as well as table and chair legs, add a touch of elegance to the dining area.

While the rest of the walls are decked out in blush pink, one wall was deliberately left devoid of colour. This clean white wall acts as the perfect backdrop to display precious wedding portraits.

With personal mementos such as books and awards tucked away in white cupboards, the dining area looks spacious and clutter-free.

Unlike the pink living room, the kitchen has a Mediterranean concept. The kitchen tiles and blue cabinets will make you feel as though you’ve been transported to a house by the sea in Italy.

The dose of kawaii in the kitchen comes from the adorable cat murals adorning the walls, as well as the quirky floor mats.

With striking cobalt blue walls and blush pink sheets, the bedroom echoes both the living room and the kitchen through its colour palette.

The white furniture helps brighten up the room, with the colours blending together harmoniously for a comfy and chic vibe. Similar to the lights in the living room, gold details add a touch of elegance to the space.

The same lights are used in the other bedroom, which happens to be the only room in the flat painted in a neutral tone. Pastel pink curtains, paisley bedsheets and white furniture ensure the room feels cohesive with the rest of the house.

Just as how Cinnamoroll seemed to have inspired the colour palette of the living and dining areas, Rilakkuma’s warm tones also match this bedroom perfectly.
