School Of Tomorrow Exhibition

Back when I was still in school, I recall dreading classes like physics and maths because they were just not that interesting to me. But now that it has been years since I graduated, I miss attending classes with my friends and learning new things.

If you’re keen on enrolling yourself in a one-day “school”, School of Tomorrow is a free and interactive exhibition from now till 1 October 2023. Rest assured there won’t be any morning assembly, but instead, there will be Instagram-worthy photo spots and hands-on activities.

The exhibition

School Of Tomorrow Exhibition

ICYMI, Singapore Design Week is currently underway, and the School of Tomorrow is one of its highlights. The exhibition educates visitors about critical environmental issues through “classes” on 10 subjects, like social studies, biology, and home economics.

The best part? There won’t be any homework for you to bring home.

School Of Tomorrow Exhibition

Many Singaporeans can relate to having that one confused classmate who always asks, “Cher, can explain that again?” in class. Well, the good thing about School of Tomorrow is the easy-to-understand displays.

For instance, in biology class, you’ll learn about the severity of plastic pollution thanks to anatomical models of humans and animals. At the same time, the class introduces plastic alternatives, such as eco-friendly materials made from potato skins and plant waste.

Pay attention in Chemistry class because the periodic table on display is different from what you might expect. The reimagined periodic table features 45 new elements, like Cow Dung (Du) and Rambutan Peel (Rp), which serve as replacements for materials that harm the environment.

School Of Tomorrow Exhibition

Take a break at the Canteen of Tomorrow, where you get to explore nutritious food that is not only healthy for you, but also beneficial for the environment. Some of these unconventional options include insects and larvae, which are rich in protein, and require much fewer resources to farm.

Climate change has always been a huge issue, and if you haven’t already noticed, Singapore has been experiencing drastic weather changes. You can find out more about these changes in Geography class, and perhaps find inspiration to contribute to environmental conservation.

Art classes are always fun, and at this exhibition, you get to unleash your creativity when you paint using natural materials. Plus, there is also a bookshop where you get to explore and learn how to “fight the next chapter” alongside allies like environmentalists.

School of Tomorrow is located at Selegie Arts Centre

Chances are, with these interactive and hands-on activities, the School of Tomorrow exhibition is an excellent way to educate people about ongoing environmental issues, and introduce sustainable living methods to make the Earth a better place.
