Sending Wedding Invites To Companies
As society progresses and our mindsets change, many couples in Singapore are getting stricter when it comes to their wedding guest lists. Small, intimate gatherings are now preferred over large, expensive banquets, as couples start prioritising their special day more than “saving face”.
Interestingly, for TikTok user @gichizzle, she and her husband decided to send out wedding invites to people way beyond their circle — bubble tea companies, Scoot Airlines and, hilariously, even our president, Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
The TikTok video
Speaking to Zula, @gichizzle shared that they first came across this idea from another TikTok video — “we saw someone sending their wedding invitation to McDonald’s and got a McNuggets bouquet in return, so we thought we’d give it a try too.”
@gichizzle then documented their experience in a now viral TikTok video with nearly 700,000 views, sharing what it was like sending wedding invites to companies that both her and her husband support.
As a bubble tea enthusiast, @gichizzle mentioned that she and her husband both were “really excited” when Koi dropped them a message agreeing to waive off the delivery fee for their bulk order.
Meanwhile, Scoot delivered a hamper of goodies directly to their wedding venue without any prior notice — “it totally caught us off guard because nobody was expecting a Scoot delivery”. This pleasant surprise was filled with cute teddy bears, stickers and a card from Scoot decorated in their signature yellow colours.
Don Don Donki was the first to reach out to the couple, and it was a “huge surprise” to @gichizzle as she did not expect them to put so much thought into their gift. The box came with a handwritten card and penguin plushies of their mascot Donpen and his girlfriend, Donko.
The couple even sent an invite to our president Tharman, who kindly congratulated them despite not being able to attend their solemnization.
@gichizzle explained that the other gifts only came in after the wedding, such as Gong Cha, that sent $90 worth of vouchers along with a letter of congratulations from their CEO.
$90 worth of gift vouchers? That sounds just like every bubble tea lover’s dream — “we went a little crazy after seeing Gong Cha’s gift”, @gichizzle admitted.

While this Singaporean couple sent out wedding invites just “for a laugh”, it’s heartwarming to see how the companies returned their thoughtful gesture with gifts to congratulate them too.
In the meantime, more couples are also making use of unconventional places to hold their weddings, in locations such as Ya Kun and Haidilao.
