2020 has been a whirlwind, to say the least. To wrap up 2020 on a candid note, Uniqlo has collaborated with The Singaporean Dream on a UTme! collection spotlighting some of the new terms coined over the course of the year.
The Singaporean Dream is a card game created by SYNT.Studio in 2018. The game celebrates the little quirks and unique features we have on our island.
Its latest edition is called The Singaporean Dream: The New Normal, which is also the name of the UTme! collection. The pack includes new cards that highlight the biggest changes we experienced in Singapore this year, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The designs on the cards translate to motifs on T-shirts that you can wear when you go out to town or when you’re visiting friends and family to celebrate the start of Phase 3.
Remember when everyone and their mother rushed to the supermarket to hoard instant noodles and toilet paper at the start of the pandemic? Now that experience has been immortalised in the form of a cartoon drawing with the Panic Buying t-shirt.
While other countries had lockdowns and isolation periods, Singapore had a much cooler term for it. The Circuit Breaker t-shirt commemorates how we replaced the “normal” word that everyone else around the world used.
The Singapoliday t-shirt features iconic attractions like the Supertree at Gardens by The Bay and Marina Bay Sands with the tagline “Tourist in my own city”, since Singapore was the only place we could explore this year.
The “Work From Home” artwork is relatable for everyone who had to hop on endless Zoom meetings while staying at home 24/7.

The collection has 6 designs in total. The previous 4 were from illustrations on the cards in the new expansion pack, but there are also 2 other designs that were created exclusively for this collaboration.
The Singaporean OOTD illustration shows how we started to opt for more casual outfits like a simple t-shirt paired with slippers and, of course, a mask as we got used to staying at home.
Similarly, the Same Shirt, Different Day design is meant to represent how most of us now choose comfort over style by wearing the same t-shirt in different colours.
With every purchase of a t-shirt from The New Normal by The Singaporean Dream UTme! collection, you will also receive a limited edition sticker sheet with the 6 designs as well as 3 new ones. You can stick these on your laptops or notebooks to remind yourself of all the changes you’ve gone through in 2020.
The collection is part of Uniqlo’s UTme! series, which is different from its usual UT collections like the UNIQLO x Batman or UNIQLO Disney Princess Songs collections. The UTme! series lets you add designs like the ones from The New Normal or even stickers and messages on your shirt to make it uniquely yours.
The UTme! booth can only be found at Uniqlo’s Global Flagship Store at Orchard Central. Each t-shirt costs $29.90. For more information, check out Uniqlo Singapore’s website to find out how to get your hands on a personalised shirt.
