Let’s admit it ‒ most of us enjoy shopping at UNIQLO because of their unique services like custom embroidery and female-friendly space LifeWear For Her. If you’re a loyal UNIQLO customer like me, you might be interested to know that the Japanese brand has a sister brand called GU. It is established as a much more affordable brand, and focuses more on fashion trends.
Come this 28 April 2023, GU is releasing a Harry Potter collection for Potterheads.
If the recent UNIQLO x JW Anderson collab has you digging the preppy student look, consider going for the Hogwarts House Vest in this collection.
Available in four designs, each vest features an embroidery of a house crest, which matches the colour of the respective house. For instance, the Gryffindor vest greets us in dark red alongside yellow linings, and Hufflepuff’s comes in dark yellow and black linings.
Since these vests are made from 100% polyester, rest assured that you can wear them even during hot weather in Singapore.
Each Hogwarts House Vest retails at ¥1,990 (~S$19.70).
UNIQLO is known for releasing exclusive UT T-shirt collections, so it is not surprising to see that GU follows the same too.
This collection sees a variety of T-shirts in basic colours, which features iconic Harry Potter references like Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and Chocolate Frogs. Since muggles like us never get the chance to try out these magical treats, the T-shirts might just be a solution to express our desires.
There’s no denying that we love to see people get punished for their bad deeds, just like the time when Hagrid cast a spell on Dudley for pigging out on Harry’s birthday cake. Celebrate that moment with this green T-shirt design that features a motif of Harry’s iconic pink birthday cake.
Inspired by the phrase “let sleeping dogs lie”, Hogwarts’ motto is “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus”, which means “never tickle a sleeping dragon” in Latin. Show your love for the magical institute through this black T-shirt with a white Hogwarts crest.
Wear this Hermione Granger T-shirt during class, and who knows – your Professor might reply with “10 points to Gryffindor” when you answer a question correctly.
The Wizarding World works in many different ways that we can’t fathom, and it’s fascinating how Dumbledore knew that Harry lived in a cupboard under the stairs. The back of this white T-shirt features Harry’s address in England alongside a motif of Hogwarts’ official wax seal.
Each T-shirt retails at ¥1,490 (~S$14.80).
If polo tees are your go-to fashion choice, these designs in black and white might pique your interest. The one in black features a colourful embroidery of the Hogwarts crest, and the white polo tee comes with the lettering “Hogwarts Express” on the right and a logo of platform 9¾ on the left.
Each polo tee retails at ¥1,990 (~S$19.70).
Whether it is sleeping over at bae’s or having a slumber party with your girlies, this collection also includes pyjamas for both the lads and ladies.
Decked in vertical stripes, this two-piece pyjama set is available in four colours ‒ green, red, navy, and black. Each design represents a different house, and it also features a house crest on the chest pocket.
Each two-piece pyjama set retails at ¥2,990 (~S$29.60).
There’s no reason why you can’t look cute when you’re getting ready for bed. Throw on this adorable pyjama set in orange, which also features red vertical stripes. Unlike the aforementioned pyjama set, this one has motifs of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans on the chest pocket and shorts.
If the previous design isn’t “sweet” enough, this one in navy might do the trick instead. Paying tribute to Hogsmeade sweet shop Honeydukes, the pyjama set appears in navy with white vertical stripes.
You’ll also find an embroidery of the Honeydukes logo on the chest pocket, and more on the shorts like sweets and a Chocolate Frog.
Each pyjama set retails at ¥2,990 (~S$29.60).
You’re not alone if Hedwig’s sacrifice caused you to bawl your eyes out. Remember his brave actions through this pair of earrings, which features an owl biting an envelope with its wings spread, and another of it looking at you.
The pair of earrings retails at ¥1,490 (~S$14.80).
Chances are, most of us desire the skill to accio our lipstick or eye drop, so we won’t have to fumble around in our bag. If that sounds like you, consider keeping things organised with this “magical” pouch that comes in white.
Alongside a motif of Hogwarts crest on the front, a Hogwarts wax seal greets us over a magnetic snap. Flip the pouch around, and you’ll also find the lettering of Harry’s address on the back.
The pouch retails at ¥1,990 (~S$19.70).
Sirius Potterheads won’t want to miss out on GU’s Harry Potter collection that adds a “magical” touch to their OOTD. Unfortunately, the collection is available for those residing in Japan for now from 28 April 2023. Interested fans would have to search for freight forwarding services that ship to Singapore.
