After the news that IKEA might be releasing a bread-themed sofa, you can now expect another food-related product to catch your attention ‒ a bao-shaped pouch.

The pouch
Many Japanese magazines come with free gifts and this bao-shaped pouch is actually a complimentary item for the February 2022 edition of a Japanese magazine related to meat buns.
With dimensions of 11cm x 7.5cm, the pouch is comparably smaller than usual handbags. Yet, thanks to its petite size, it stores essentials like coins and hand sanitiser when you attach it to your bag. Perhaps with the pouch, it might even trigger the bao cravings of others when you head outside.
As the pouch is inspired by real meat buns, it is no surprise to see how much attention the designer paid to perfect the details. Right on top, you’ll spot the twisted peak and below, there are also the pleats that form from sealing the bao after it is completed with fillings.
When you unzip and open the pouch from the side, you’ll be greeted by its soft and brown texture. On one side, it includes a netting that holds your items securely. Depending on your preference, you can also fill the bao up with your own “fillings” like AirPods, eyedrops or lip balm.
On the back, the pouch comes with a card slot to hold your EZ-Link card or work ID so you won’t need to take them out every time.
Closing in on the details, you might also notice several Japanese writings. It reads the name of Nakamuraya, a restaurant in Japan that opened back in 1901. It is also the company that made this adorable bao merchandise.
