Engagement Photo On Dating App

In this day and age, dating apps are pretty much a norm. Millennials and Gen Zs alike are on multiple apps, swiping for a chance to finally find The One. But while X user @mahdinosaur was using Bumble, he came across an unexpected profile picture — a couple’s engagement photo, complete with the girl flexing a ring on her fourth finger.

It turns out the couple was on the app to prove to users that it is possible to find love on dating apps, no matter how bleak the never-ending swiping journey may be.

The profile

The profile sported a sweet couple photo that seemed to be taken right after the guy popped the big question — the flowers, engagement ring and balloons spelling out “marry me” isn’t exactly subtle messaging here.

In the profile description, the couple shared that they met in 2022 and are now engaged and preparing for their wedding in 2025.

The couple went on to add, “we want to tell you, it is possible to find the right one here on Bumble”, hoping to inspire other singles to not give up hope on finding their soulmate.

Netizens’ response

The Bumble profile was shared on X and has since garnered over 420,000 views with mixed responses from netizens. The original poster, @mahdinosaur, felt that though the couple was bragging about their experience, he enjoyed reading about their love story.

Other users chimed in with their support, with one even sharing that her version of hard launching a relationship would’ve been with the caption, “keep swiping old hag, this one’s already asked for my parents’ blessing”.

Another user shared a similar love story herself, as she met her fiancé in 2022 and will be getting married this year.

Some even joked that the couple “found love in a hopeless place”, suggesting that perhaps Rihanna’s song lyrics aren’t just a fantasy after all.

However, some netizens reacted negatively, sharing that while they are happy for the couple, dating apps don’t work for them. Another agreed, saying that she felt confused by the profile — though it’s wholesome, it’s also a little cringey at the same time.

Another user harshly stated, “if I saw this, I would report them”. It’s a fair statement after all, since singles are on dating apps to look for a potential match, not to see attached couples gloat in their faces.

With so many successful love stories that rose from dating apps, it’s no surprise that many singles are anticipating their turn someday. Hopefully, users who come across this couple’s encouragement to keep swiping will be able to share their own love story soon.
