Vans x Kakao Friends Collection With Artist Hyunye

If you are a fan of Kakao Friends characters like Ryan the bear, Apeach the walking peach, and Con the tiny reptile, get ready because they are coming to a shoe near you.

Vans is collaborating with Korean artist Hyunye to bring your favourite Kakao Friends characters onto popular Vans models like the Slip-On, Era and Old Skool.

Popularity of Vans

Vans saw a resurgence in 2018, with its beloved black and white Old Skool models spotted on the streets of Singapore, worn by millennials and Gen-Zers alike.

The Vans Old Skool model has become the ‘It shoe’ of 2018 for Singaporean streetwear aficionados, but it’s about to continue its reign on Singaporeans’ feet as Vans continues to hash out new versions of it.

First of all, Potterheads can hold their breaths as Vans just teased their upcoming Harry Potter collaboration, seemingly focused on the four houses of Hogwarts.

Secondly, we are excited about the recently released photos of Vans’ collaboration with Kakao Friends.

Kakao Friends are well-loved in Singapore

Kakao is a messaging app used widely in Korea, while Singaporeans tend to communicate more on WhatsApp or Telegram. However, this has not stopped many from becoming fans of Kakao Friends’ adorable characters.

Kakao Friends’ characters have appeared on many products like phone cases, portable batteries, socks and mugs. These products are available in many shops around Singapore.

This will be Kakao Friends’ first major collaboration with a major streetwear shoe brand, Vans.

Vans x Kakao Friends Characters Give Your Old Skool Shoes A New Twist

Unlike the classic black and white Old Skool designs, the Vans x Kakao Friends collaboration is available in bright orange, sky blue and teal.

They are also available in various styles like slip ons, lace ups and high-cut silhouettes, so you’ll be sure to find a design that fits your style.

The collection will be released on May 3 and you can receive updates from the Vans x Kakao officiate site.
