Nike Food Sneakers

Local food is so important to Singaporeans that it doesn’t just fuel us, it literally fuels our creations too. Hot on the heels of Hello Kitty x Pew Pew Patches and Studio MU / YU’s kaya toast earrings comes a new collaboration from Click.je and Out of Fun (OOF). The 2 local brands have come together under the moniker TUCKSHOP to create 3 pairs of Nike food sneakers inspired by stalwarts of Singaporean cuisine.

Read to the end to find out how you can cop a pair of these limited-edition sneakers. But first, let’s take a look at the 3 designs!

Laksa Air Force 1

First up, Laksa Air Force 1 sneakers. Instead of a literal interpretation, the design resembles a top-down view of a bowl of laksa.

The body of the sneakers is dipped in orange and red hues à la laksa gravy. Flecks of green recall laksa leaves, while the yellow and white on the Swoosh is a callback to the noodles. The designers even cheekily customised the orange speckled laces to imitate the soup stains you spend your entire meal trying to avoid.

The customisation process doesn’t just end with the hand-painted sneakers. From the label listing laksa ingredients to a flyer promoting the “dish” inside the box, the devil is truly in the details.

Nasi Lemak Air Max 90

Next up, the Nasi Lemak Nike Air Max 90 sneakers. The striped green midsoles are a shout out to the banana leaves that nasi lemak is typically wrapped in. The red and brown lace guards illustrate how ikan bilis, peanuts and sambal are as crucial to the dish as the coconut rice itself. This time around, the yellow-and-white Swoosh represents a fried egg.

Like we said, the devil is in the details. Peep the adorable little icon on the heel of the sneakers, which looks like a wrapped-up nasi lemak parcel.

Roti Prata Air Jordan 1

Sneakerheads around the world might be fighting over the Dior x Air Jordan 1 sneakers. We’re out here drooling over these Roti Prata Air Jordan 1 sneakers instead.

The main body of the sneakers features brown and white specks straight out of a plain prata. The fact that it’s reminiscent of the cow-print bodysuit Beyonce wore in Black Is King is a happy coincidence. No surprises for guessing what the red-and-orange Swoosh and the speckled laces are supposed to mimic.
