Pride Month Singapore 2022

When it comes to celebrating Pride Month in Singapore, not many of us know of activities to enjoy — other than attending the annual Pink Dot celebration at Hong Lim Park. But beyond wearing pink tees to channel our inner Plastic and watching the performances, it turns out that the month is actually packed full with fun-filled activities to celebrate love. 

From watching live drag shows to learning about kink play, we’ve compiled a list of things you can do to fully embrace the joy of Pride Month.

1. Live drag show — RIOT!

If you’ve never experienced watching a drag show before, now’s the best time to check that off your bucket list. RIOT! will be hosting a series of drag shows every Monday throughout Pride Month titled “A Final Commotion”. 

FYI, The Commotion series of drag shows were the only regular live drag shows during the pandemic. This is your last chance to catch their performance, as the series is coming to an end in June.

2. Check out exclusive Pride cocktails and picnic packs — GudSht

3. Pasar Pink x Sunday Social pop-up — Pink Fest

As Pink Fest’s signature event, the Pasar Pink x Sunday Social pop-up is not one to be missed. Featuring over 30 local brands, artisans and food vendors, this inclusive social market is the best way you can #SupportLocal while showing your love for the LGBTQIA+ community. 

If you’re looking to fill your bellies with good food, a food truck by The Good Burger will also be making its way to the pop-up.

4. Pink Fest pole dance trial — Breathe Dance Co.

Pole dancing may seem like an intimidating sport at first glance, but there’s no shame in giving it a shot. For those who are curious to try out the sport, Breathe Dance Co. is offering two exclusive trial classes as part of their annual Pink Dot celebrations. 

No prerequisites are required and the trial is open to absolute beginners, so feel free to grab your BFFs for a spinning good time.

5. LGBTQ+ property workshop — Prident

Unlike straight couples who can easily opt for a BTO, housing continues to be a big issue for LGBTQIA+ couples in Singapore. To counter these insecurities, Prident is hosting an online Zoom workshop to educate queer folks on home ownership and planning with real life case studies.

6. Pink Fest Run 2022 — MGR Runners

MGR Runners is holding their 4th annual Pink Fest Run, welcoming any individual interested in running regardless of ability, gender or sexual orientation. For those who are interested, two route options are available: 6km and 11km. The event is completely free, so all you have to do is show up and have a good time running while surrounded by positive energy.

7. Pink Dot 2022

It’s impossible to miss out on the biggest event of Pride Month — Pink Dot. After two years of holding Pink Dot online due to the pandemic, Pink Dot is finally coming back as a physical event in 2022. Participants can expect to show their support with placards, watch live performances and speeches, and also visit LGBTQIA+ groups at the community tents.

8. YUM YUM Pink Pride Disco Party — YUM YUM DISCO DONG

Now that night life is back in full swing, YUM YUM DISCO SONG isn’t holding back with their Pink Pride Disco Party this year. Their unique pride dance party pays tribute to the history of queer dance music, so you can dance your night away on the disco floor. Expect DJs, drag queens, and lots of dance moves in this safe space for all types of queer expressions.

9. Two Queens Asia Pride Special

Fill up your beer mugs at Two Queens Asia Pride Special, featuring a safe space for drag queens and strippers from the community. 10. Trivia Night quiz — Acid Bar

11. Rainbow Family Exhibition — Rainbow Families Project

We’re used to the idea of nuclear families in Singapore, but the Rainbow Family Exhibition wants to go beyond that by normalising queer families too. Comprising of light installations that take the form of a deconstructed closet, participants can snap photos at the exhibition and check out the Intermission Bar, a safe space for queer events.

12. Meet Your Next: Match – Prout

14. Pinki Kiki Ball — Vogue In Progress

15. PINK READS book exchange — Singapore Unbound

Calling all book-lovers: PINK READS is celebrating Pink Dot this year with a unique book exchange. At the event, participants can bring their favourite LGBT-authored book to exchange with someone else, so you’ll have the chance to read a new recommendation and make new friends at the same time.

16. Intro to kinks workshop — Kinky Minky Club

Let’s admit it — Singapore is a pretty conservative country, especially when it comes to the topic of sex. 17. Queer circle yoga and wellness workshop — Unapologetic Yoga

The session begins with yoga nidra, aka a guided meditative process, followed by a journaling practice for reflection. To make sure you’re completely immersed in the zen mode, the circle also includes scents, music and teas to help you explore yourself. 

As the wellness space is often dominated by binaries, this session is open to all LGBTQIA+ folks and is free from binary language.
